It's interesting to me that so many of you have stated in this thread that you buy all your stuff from Fry's locally. That's my usual way of buying parts for a build, I've actually been shopping at Fry's since they opened their first store in Sunnyvale, CA in 1985. There's currently a Carl's Jr burger joint at the location where the original Fry's store was located.
I've always felt that I wanted the parts NOW, didn't want to wait for them to be shipped and didn't want to hassle with having to get an RMA to return a defective MB. However, the thing I have always run into when buying my parts from Fry's is that I can do research to determine which CPU and motherboard I want to buy, then go to Fry's, only to find out that Fry's does not carry the motherboard that I selected. It has happened time and again where I have had to buy a different motherboard since they didn't have the one I wanted. Even though I've been a NewEgg customer for years and ordered lots of things from them, this is actually the first time I have ever purchased a MB and other parts for a build on-line. I researched which MB I wanted and ordered it from NewEgg simply because Fry's didn't carry it. My son is the one who encouraged me to buy from NewEgg. He just did a build a couple of weeks ago and bought all his parts via NewEgg. They shipped his order the same day and he had all the parts in 2 days.

Technically, it doesn't matter if we purchase from a store that does not have a physical presence in the state. The state can legally only force those with a physical presence to collect the sales tax BUT - there is a line on our state tax form where we are supposed to report what purchases we made out of state and pay the sales tax on them. I don't know anyone that actually does it, but the line is there. |

I know I dont... They tax every aspect of my life... they tax the people I work for on the money they make and again when they pay me....again when I pay my help and again when we spend it...so i figure they get enough tax from me... plus I dont buy much anymore. I pretty much quit building
is that what Reagan meant by Trickle down effect? |

That litigation was settled two or three months ago and Amazon finally capitulated and will collect sales tax. My recollection is that it starts in July.

Placed another order at Newegg, it literally took 5 minutes for the order status to go from "Order Verification" to "Packaging" then moved to "Shipped" in less than 4 hours. That's more typical of orders I've placed with Newegg as opposed to 3 days stuck in "Order Verification".

You might have just gotten an off day. The shipping department manager ate something bad for dinner and had to call in sick. **** happen! On the whole, Newegg has been great for me, although I did once have something I ordered all of a sudden show up as a back order after a couple of days which threw my schedule off. That kind of sucked.
