Boyscouts

Hopefully this will be acceptable here as the military thread is and I think it is similar in principle too. The Boyscouts might start caving against their stance about homosexuals in the scouts due to pressure from advertisers. I hate that for different reasons. First the advertisers are free to decide what they want to do, so I am not arguing that point.

Secondly, I do not intend on getting into the debate against homosexuality itself (I am sure that would be too far and I have made my position known in the Watering hole).

What I don't understand though is how people can be so blinded by "equal rights" that they don't see the problems.

To me, having homosexual scout leaders is the same as having heterosexual leaders in girl scouts. I am not saying either are pedophiles, but scouts can have people 18 in them, I believe, and even ones a bit younger can be temptations to leaders (especially I suppose to younger ones closer in age).

Also, we have seen how even heterosexual teachers have slept with students of opposite sex , so it isn't a stretch to think it could happen with homosexual leaders with scouts. This is made worse by the fact that they do overnight things. Also, teachers have other teachers and students nearby and also risk more due to it being their profession and getting busted can not only get them in prison, but to lose their teaching licenses. So, the risk is greater, but they have still done it.

We wouldn't want to put an alcoholic in charge of liquor, a pedophile in charge of kids, a heterosexual in charge of the opposite sex, yet people either fail to see the problem with putting a homosexual in charge of same sex, are blinded, or so concerned about "equal rights" they fail to see the ramifications. I don't get it.

So, I am putting religious convictions, beliefs and such aside and looking at this strictly in what makes logical sense to me.
