Very funny.

Just the Photoshopped picture alone will get him executed and 3 generations of his family sent to a re-education camp.

Yeah...where did the Likes go?

The fat little Boyscout....that's funny as hell.

Maybe that's his problem?...nobody except the people he can threaten within his own country takes him seriously, and that drives him nuts. He is kinda the John Belushi of world leaders. I wonder if he has ever squirted food at his generals?

The way these dictators stay in power is you gain power and status after a provocative act if you're "still standing". If your still standing, you win and gain great status. The punk will launch his unarmed harmless missiles against everybody's "grave warnings". Of course when nothing happens to him after the launch, ie, there are not consequences, he will be hailed as a great and powerful leader as everybody backed down and was "terrified" of him. It's an old propaganda exercise in power building. As long as he's still standing, he wins in his country's view.

If there is a war, we need to tell the rest of the world that it is your problem this time and stay the hell out. Let them lose billions of dollars and thousands of lives this time. All we do is provide the boomers and NOTHING else. But no, the US always has to be the first to jump into a war and suffer the usual consequences while the rest of the world sits back and says to themselves, "Suckers, i'm glad we are not paying for this war". Just because we have the worlds best military does not mean we should use it at every opportunity that pops up.

Or perhaps we should start using a little economic common sense and start charging other countries for the use of our military? Charge South Korea 50 billion per day if they are not being invaded and 100 billion per day if they are being invaded. They are not exactly a poor country with Hyundai (makes much more than cars), Samsung, LG and a standard of living that rivals this country. Charge any country that has US bases overseas. I bet we could pay down the national debt pretty quickly this way and maybe even create a national surplus. Seriously, why do other countries never have to pay to be defended by the US? It would sure help the US taxpayer to not be saddled with that burden. If they cannot afford the money then have them give up a portion of their land and sell it back to the highest bidder, whichever country or individual wants a portion of what was once South Korea...or whichever country of the month we are defending this time.

I'm not going to be popular by saying this here but try to see things from the other side.

North Korea has seen countries like Iraq and Afghanistan being invaded by the USA and is terrified it is next.

It is not going to attack anyone - it is sabre rattling in the renewed hope that the US will leave it alone.

Sorry folks but I dont see North Koreas development of nukes as any different from my country Great Britain who was terrified of a Soviet invasion/attack 50 years ago.

EDIT: Can I just point out that that the ultimate losers of this nonsense will be the people of South Korea who have everything to lose but nothing to gain. Think about them for a minute (I'm glad Obama has).

Sorry you feel this way. They would not get invaded or bombed if they did not make nuclear strike threats as well as running nuke test runs. They are ready to do a third one and have been warned. This is not about the US invading anyone. It is about a very troubled individual making serious threats and continual nuclear test runs.

If they don't do anything stupid we have no reason to do anything to them, if they mind their business we will mind ours.

Not political PR as nobody slamming a party or an American ideal. Actually writing about possibility of something much more intense than jive talk or color of the moon. Maybe survival of the world as we know it? I'd hope a flexible area would be extended as such.

I hope this doesn't get closed, nobody has been hostile or gotten mad and this is a very important subject even if it is a little political.

While I don't agree with conlog's thinking on north koreas nuke development being the same as great Britain developing in fear of the Russians, I do respect his opinion and enjoy a view from outside the USA.

It would be helpful if there was a written definition of what this forum considers to be political and what it does not consider to be political.

po·lit·i·cal (p-lt-kl)
adj.
1. Of, relating to, or dealing with the structure or affairs of government, politics, or the state.
2. Relating to, involving, or characteristic of politics or politicians: "Calling a meeting is a political act in itself" (Daniel Goleman).
3. Relating to or involving acts regarded as damaging to a government or state: political crimes.
4. Interested or active in politics: I'm not a very political person.
5. Having or influenced by partisan interests: The court should never become a political institution.
6. Based on or motivated by partisan or self-serving objectives: a purely political decision.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/political

Is this PCMech's definition as well?

If so, under the first and third definition, we cannot discuss the situation in North Korea.

I'm not disputing the moderation or complaining in any way, just saying, it would be really helpful to get some guidance from the mod team.

Rules haven't changed in years. Rule #5:

Quote:
This is a computer related forum, so please keep conversations to technical topics. We do allow non-technical topics in the General Discussion forum, but that said, we still insist members stay away from political and religious debates. These subjects, by nature, lead into heated debate which we do not want on these forums.
David, it goes till a moderator issues a warning, then if it keeps up, it either gets closed or moved to the WH.

Sarge, there's another rule you seem to have forgotten, rule #8:

Quote:
We will not argue or debate moderator action or policy in public.
Thanks, everyone. Keep it cool. I'm being as flexible as I can in this thread and it's right on the ragged edge. COMMON SENSE should keep you out of trouble.

Sarge, you responded to PR's "Moderator Notice" in public. I'm not afraid of anything, I'm just doing my job. You DO have to admit that we are a lot more relaxed here than we used to be, and I've lost moderators over that. Please don't push me to try to find my limit - when I snap, I get quite nasty.

David, I wish you wouldn't edit your posts while I'm writing!

You are completely correct, with a strict interpretation of the rules. Notice that we let it go till it started getting contentious.

We would REALLY prefer that such subjects be discussed in the Watering Hole. If you don't feel like paying for a membership, get ahold of bob.

Getting back on topic:

The rhetoric flowing out of the DPRK continues unabated:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/10/wo...orth.html?_r=0

the DPRK is telling foreigners in the ROK that they should evacuate because the peninsula is "on the brink of nuclear war". While that is more than likely just bluster, counties adjacent to and within (the theoretical) range of Pyongyang's missiles are setting up missile defenses in case the nutcases there do fling some missiles in their direction.

His daddy and grandpa always had an exit plan from this rhetoric. He doesn't seem to have one and that makes him dangerous. He should at least find another barber.
