You Don't Want This

I scanned the personal ID info stuff off for personal reasons, duh. But you can read down to hospital course and basically it said my heart had 3 clogged arteries and I got a triple bypass. All the docs and family and friends agreed I had been given a gift, one I will try and understand why. A year later, after obsessing 24/7 over this, I still can't figure how I walked around like that with no symptoms. The docs were asking how I even walked into the place. Just make sure you take care of yourself, beginning today

I am glad you are okay Sarge. Just as I was reading your post I was debating on whether or not to get on the rowing machine. Thanks for a well needed kick in the pants. It's time for a row.

Give it your best. I walk across the room, I breathe heavily. Stuff out of your left leg transplanted into your heart just isn't the same. Man, I regret everything I ever did to build up plaque, but I didn't block the "widow maker" artery. That's why old SARGE can still post.

Any exercise is better than no exercise.

David, sitting on my arse the past year, I became afraid to do anything, and was always feeling my carotid arteries to see if heart was beating. It really became a psychological issue 24/7, as though I didn't need another on top of the other ongoing issue. Paying someone to mow the yard the past year not my style. I got out in alley the other day and used weedeater for first time in a year, and didn't die. Felt good. Progress...

That's excellent Sarge. Did you check with your doctor to find out how much exercise is best for you?

He said to walk my Golden twice a day for 30 minutes. Btw, according to the National Institutes of Health, most grafts will remain open and functioning for 10 to 15 years. Guys on death row get more than that. Gotta make each day count.

And, as I wrote, there were no symptoms which it's why called the silent killer. It doesn't happen overnight and no one can say it takes a lifetime or just a short time to develop heart disease, as each person different. And evidently genetics plays a part afterall. Guys get their stuff from Mom and her genes. We don't know much about Mom's past as she didn't know her dad. Us 3 boys had serious heart issues at a young age so maybe some truth. My advice is to never marry a fry cook and be sensible with knowledge out there.
