More Texas Bashing ;-)

Two Texas Cities Make the Redneck Top 10

The blog compiled its rather unique criteria for ranking redneck cities:

Percent of population that didn’t complete high school
Number of gun and ammo stores per capita
Number of taxidermists per capita
Number of cowboy boot stores per capita
Number of country radio stations per capita
Number of NASCAR race tracks close by
Number of Walmarts per capita
Number of riding lawn mower/tractor repair shops per capita

Another - what will they think up next story

If I was going to pick redneck towns it wouldn't be Fort Worth and Arlington.

. . . and it damned sure wouldn't be Cleveland, OH, nor Sacramento, CA! And where are the towns in the rest of the South?

Never have considered Atlanta to be redneck based on 60 years of observation. I can think of a lot of other unsavory things it is.

The high school graduation rate is probably the best indicator that there are problems. The current trials and tribulations of the schools in the city made national headlines.

I'm 13 miles northeast of the zero milepost but spent my working life mostly inside the city limits.

Why not go by number of Rebel Flags per capita?

I'm betting Oklahoma got two cities on the list just off of that "number of Wal-mart stores" option. Feels like there's a Wal-mart in every decent sized town and bigger cities like OKC seem to have one everywhere you look.

Don't forget the empty beer cans in back of pickups. Or pink flamingos and I'm seeing more and more spray painted toilets in front yards being used as planters. You can usually find several ladies who only have 3 teeth and carry 2 of 'em in their pocket for Saturday nights.

I hear Texans count the number of beer cans in in the back in case their odometer breaks.....about two miles per can.

Is that why they set the speed limits so high?

I don't think they consulted Jeff for the criteria...

If the average clearance of all the vehicles in your hometown is over two feet.... and that's including Grandma's station wagon .... yur defintely a redneck....

Rednecks? That's just plain old southern hospitality.
