Could hybrids be the death of tablets?

Could hybrids be the death of tablets?

Once upon a time, the desktop PC reigned. Then came the notebook. Then, tablets came along and wiped the floor with both the desktop and the notebook, and sent the entire PC industry into a freefalling tailspin. But could the reign of the tablet be a short-lived one? Could hybrid systems be waiting in the wings to give tablets a taste of their own medicine?

AMD has been failing in the CPU business ever since the paradigm shift from x86 to 64-bit. I'm inclined to take their market observations and projections with a grain of salt.

However, it is true that mobile computing and the cloud are the driving forces in the industry right now.

People like choice. It is not often that one technology completely replaces another. It is usually the case that when a new technology or idea comes along that it is an addition to and not a replacement of.

Indeed. Not everyone uses the cloud, and not everyone has a mobile computing device.

Some folks still need local storage and a powerful workstation to get their stuff done.

I don't *need* either, but I prefer it that way.
