Knock off Hal and we'll give you his spot, never liked him much anyways...

Outside of that, I think most everyone has been an invite thing, at least that's how I got in. Someone leaves due to lack of time or whatever, and we'll all take a vote on some particularly well liked member of the forum and ask them if they'd like to help out.

Really, how do you suggest killing/horribly mangling him?

Install WinME/McAffee Antivirus/MacOS onto him?

No. Take away all Intel-powered PCs and give him AMD powered PCs instead.
That's really cruel, this would scare me, too. . .

My PC is AMD, maybe I should just give him that? In fact no, it doesn't need any help to fry

I just can't wait for AMD to start wiring the Temp things into their cpus so they dont fry (like the intels)

Then why will people still buy Intel?

Because there are far better chipsets available for intel platforms than for AMD's.
And if they finally make good AMD chipsets. . well I don't know. Intel has always been very reliable and AMD cpus before the Athlon were crap. I've seen enough K5 and K6 systems, and was glad to have an Intel.
And nowadays. .well I'm still not convinced by AMD and see no point in switching over to AMD since I'm content with Intel. And from what I see AMD has only little performance gain, and price isn't an issue anymore.

If it's really just because of performance, then why did people buy K5 and K6 CPU's a couple years ago ?? They were real crap comparing to the Intels. The Athlon was AMD's first product that was comparable to a high-end cpu from Intel.

lol, I finally understand that whole issue now. Even after reading through sometimes endless discussion topics "Intel vs AMD"

Thanks a lot for the info RJ

Easy to get me off as a moderator. Break into my house and replace my system with an AMD. It's bound to crash so much I'll never be able to get here

Is it just me, or does almost every thread, regardless of original topic, seem to turn into an Intel vs. AMD debate?

No, it's just you

I know, I know. I just get tired of the misinformation that the AMD is so much cheaper, when a little research shows that it once was, but no longer is.

I get a bit tired of the cultish reaction to somebody that wants to build a P4 as they get pressured into an AMD. It's very easy to point out thread after thread as such, but when was the last time that you saw somebody post they were going to build an AMD and users jumped all over them to build a P4.

Well, I really don't care who builds what and I don't recommend too many parts for the AMD's as I don't do nearly as much work on them as I do an Intel. I'll leave that up to those that are using these parts on a regular basis.

I also get tired of the posts of benchmarks. What do they mean really. I can find benchmarks that show a P4 beating an XP, but they are obviously wrong to the AMD users because the AMD beats the Intel in EVERY benchmark. Yea, OK, but when I run two identically equipped machines, one AMD, one Intel, you cannot tell the difference. I even had one guy come in on a daily basis to tell me how fast his machine was in comparison to an Intel. He came in the next day and I had an AMD running side by side with an Intel. I was going on about "wow, this AMD is fast" only to watch him go back and forth showing me how much better it was performing (I couldn't see a difference). Well, then I took the cover off and went "Ooops, this is the Intel". He had nothing to say

Officially, Moderator status is by invite only. We basically sit in a primitive circle around a turkey on a spit, throwing bones at each other and grunting and pointing.

We then write names on paper and throw them into a hat, and the whoever's name appears the most gets kicked off the island...er....becomes a moderator.

hehe, but as my Mum always used to say "If somebody on the internet asks for your address so they can inform their dimplomatically immune friend who will break in" DON'T TELL THEM

I listen to everything she says, apart from "Get rid of those Dust-Magnet computers!"
