Thumbs up New member here

I'm a new member to these forums, I do have like 500 posts or somthing at overclockers.com. Just thought I'd introduce myself. I run windows XP, and prior have been running NT line also, nt4 and 2k. I'm 16, but don't be prejudges to age, I'm not an idiot like the steriotype on teenagers. I like to read about overclocking and tweaking, and I have a good interest in discussing math and metaphyics.

Well thats me. One more thing, I run Intel.

Shhhhhh.... the AMD'ers will be all over you to convert, we have to stick together

LOL

Don't worry about the age, there is a wide range around here and nobody is concerned about that.

Yea, thats a reason I came here, my friend said more intel fans here. At overclockers.com it's benchmarks this, and multiplier lock that. The funny part is I (usally) dont say anything to start.

Hi satan,

Welcome to PC Mechanic. I'm also an Intel user (Pentium: 233MHz, PII: 300MHz, 400MHz, 450MHz & PIII: 450MHz, 1GHz).

Personally, I don't care about the age of the members, it's what they contribute to the forum that matters...and this forum has a lot of really great members.

I'm 16 and running a getto celeron 1GHz setup. By getto, I'm using my gorb with a fan TAPED on top of it because I don't have any zip ties to put on my other HS. Tape is what holds my computer together. More getto things, I don't have a floppy drive, or fan headers so I have to plice then in the PSU, all because of a really cheap motherboard thats half dead. My stuff always breaks after I spend my money on somthing else.

Talking WeLcOmE!

Hello and welcome... I'm new here too and have found some of the best people hanging 'round these parts!

Don't worry 'bout yer age... Many here (including myself) wished they were 16 again... We're envious! *LOL*

Take care and happy holidays!

P.S. I'm an Intel fan too... Shhh! Currently running PIII 500 and planning to build my first PC (P4 2GHz) once the prices come down a bit!

Bought it all yourself? I'm impressed, at 13 I couldn't save enough to buy a bottle of soda

No need to be sorry for being an AMD person, they make good processors too. Without them, none of us would have the stuff we have now.

Cool

Hi satan,

Welcome to PCMech!

I'm only 18 years old and have been around these forums for a couple years and enjoyed tremendously, plus I've learned a lot. I'm a little biased towards AMD (basically for being the underdog, when the Athlon first came out, and look how successful they are now, plus I've had a couple athlon systems that performed great), but I don't hate Intel. Actually I'm planning on building a P4 based system in the future as well.

IDK why, but at the overclockers forums, I thought I'd grab a name like that before someone else did. Originally wanted "slayer" but that was taken, so saw satan wasn't taken and it was something simple.

I have always been an Intel fan, and it seems as if most of the problems I see with processors in this forum are AMD's. I run P3 600Mhz and love it.

Welcome to the forum, and I wish I had MY first computer at 16. Of course that would have been in the 70's and probably would have taken up a quarter of the house to get the computing power we have available today.

It is a scary thought to realize that your digital watch has more overall computing power that the spacecraft did that went to the moon and back.

Welcome aboard!!

I'm an Intel defector. But guess we'll get along just fine.

Well as long as you don't try to convert me to the Intel cult, that is.

A lot of people here think that AMD is good but it's also problematic. Well, I think that it's like some girls, they are too complicated and need a lot of care and attention, but the benefits are well worth it!

Hello Lucifer and welcome.
You, I and many other fine upstanding "INTEL" folks need to stick together.
You might want to visit many of the forums here on the 'Mech.
Please keep in mind we run a taught ship.
Here, at the 'Mech, we DO NOT tolerate name calling and general put downs.
The stuff you read is stuff a 5 year old cound view without regret. (except the AMD crap anyways! )

The reason why this is so is because 80% of the people on here are running AMD and therefor your gonna see more problems.

I have run both systems and think there are pros and cons for both....it's just a personal preference.

Is that your butt talking or do you have a source for that statistic?

Ouch!!!

Although I will agree that the majority of the assembly/troubleshooting/OC'ing/CPU headache questions tend to lean towards AMD.

All my headache questions all lead toward M$. Yea, XP is the most stable my @SS, if you can find good drivers. To bad my video card and my scsi card aren't supported well. As for my Celeron 1GHz, as my preference, it's the only thing keeping me sain, for even a Gorb will provide suffice cooling.

OK OK , I may have jumped the gun a bit on the percentage but I believe that I am not too far off. I have a poll running right now in this forum asking just that question "AMD or INTEL" and thus far AMD is showing 60% (but the poll is in it's youth still). Plus I used to work for the largest Cable ISP in the US and our data bases recorded (through client signups) system specs such as amount of RAM, CPU Speed and type, HD size ect. These data bases (as well as my own experience as a tech taking 30 - 80 calls per shift), also confirmed that 70.2% of all cable Internet subscribers are using the AMD product. In my lifetime with the company I alone had taken approxamitley 12000 calls and these stats hold up reasonably well.

So I apologize for "talking through my butt" my numbers were a bit high....70% my be more accurate I though you all needed some elaboration on what I said.

I appreciate you rebuttal(s) to my statements; it's what makes this forum so great.
