What did you get for Christmas?

I got quite a few blank CDR's (cool 24x compatible ones), a couple of new games, and my husband, mom, and grandmother went in together and got me a camcorder. So now I can put my 100GB HDD (my Christmas present to me, lol) to good use, along with my Radeon VIVO.

I made a haul this year:
HP 215 Digital camera
40GB Mactor USB HD
ATI All In Wonder 32MB Vid card
HP 9900ci CDRW/DVD Drive (gift for myself)
HP 950c deskjet printer

And that was just the computer related stuff!

My wife had put a large box under the tree about a week ago. In my typical tunnel vision way, I never payed attention to who it was for until yesterday. When we were opening presents, she pointed it out and told me it was mine.

I opened it and found a 5 inch newtonion reflector telescope. It has an onboard computer for controling the electric drive and a database. It also has an electronic eyepiece which will allow me to digitize the images.

I went from 45 to 12 in about three seconds. The only problem was that I was too tired last night to take it out and try it. I'll get my rest and try it tonight.

I got a monster rollaround Craftsman toolbox and a bunch of drill bits to replace the ones I broke since last Christmas. I now have six small toolboxes to sell at our next yard sale.

Thumbs up

It's very nice. It's 17" and replaced the 15" LCD I had. Text is crisp and clear (especially with WinXP ClearType) and all settings are set with Auto Adjust.

Thanks!

I got a set of 4.1 channel surround sound speakers for my computer -- these are MUCH nicer than the old speakers I had -- the old ones were like $15 new, and they were breaking to the point where I would have to hit them to get sound sometimes (I was too busy to take them into the lab and fix them).

Amazing what things sound like when you have a decent sound system to play them with -- I don't think I'd ever go back to only 2 speakers for my PC. Even things which don't take advantage of positional audio (those that are only stereo) sound worlds better.

Wink

Really jealous of those who got those 'gagets' and 'toys'. It was worst for me, my 6 month old LOGITECH speakers broke down (costs $60bucks)! Darn, can't find the guarentee card, now I'm left with the lowest end speaker on earth to hold up. The only present I think is some good sleep. I guess.

Sweet! I really want the one where Homer is a Big Brother, forget what season. Every time I see that one it's the last half. The only one I haven't seen 12 times. "It's learned, Pepsi."

MY wife turned on the old PII 300, and said, buy yourself the parts for a new computer! Sorry Hal, I had to go the Athlon XP route. My mother-in-law bought me tupperware, which I'm still trying to figure out. My Dad, who has golfed with me too much, got me a ball retriever. ...and I thought I was getting better!

I got my wife a pair of slippers and a dildo. I told her if she didn't like the slippers she could go scr*w herself.

Apologies if this offended anyone.

No need to be sorry, buy what you want to buy, I just don't want to hear false exaggerations of saving $100, $200, and some claim $300, that's what gets to me.

Got some of the regular boring stuff too (clothes and such).

OK, now I get it! Actually, I paid $145 at NewEgg for a XP1700+, and the P4 1.5 costs only $10 more. I only go with AMD because that's what I've always done, and have seen no huge advantage of either chip.

With Regards,

Nate

I got an MSI K7T266 mobo along with an OEM Athlon XP 1700+, 256 DDR memory and (the reason why I have kept away a lil' from PC Mech) Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. Helluva game!!

But after reading all those posts here, I think that the real xmas gift is that my mobo has a VIA chipset and it hasn't given me a problem yet.
