Does anyone know how I can take a dvd and copy the soundtrack to a cd? I have several concerts that I would love to burn off...

For starters you need to decrypt the .vob files which hold the movie and
audio. I use claddvd to accomplish this. There is probably and audio extract program that exists to trim audio from files. If there is one of the places you
might want to look is at the site below>

I checked out several forums last night to explore this. The first thing I found (after downloading the needed programs) was that I needed a bigger hard drive to even attempt this.

Well damn...twist my arm..I had to go buy an 80g today to make myself happy again

I am going to start ripping here shortly and see what happens.

This place is the best for tools (ripping dvd ect)
Use "smartRipper", then use "dvd2avi" you should have the audio ripped from the vbo files, unsure on how to get it to work as an audio cd, but if you got nero, then there should be away around it. If you still have problems, let me know and i'll look into it.

When all else fails, you can record it off the sound card like any other auxilary input. The principle's the same if you are recording from an internal or external source when recording from the sound card. Just direct the source to the sound card. It's a bit tedious as my method requires that you cue each track. But it works.

Flask is by far the best tool still IMHO, I get weird results with everything else.

Use smartripper to extract the individual tracks from the DVD, then use Flask to convert to MPEG, tell it to save the audio stream in the record options, and that's it, when Flask is finished you'll have an MPEG of the movie and the audio file on your drive .
