just what pcmech needs... =)
I think PC mech needs a chat room! There are already very intelligent people (at least 10-20 during the middle of the night) on here all the time watching the forums, why not talk in real time? What do you guys think?

There was a thread about having a PC Mech IRC channel a while ago. Conclusion was that it's not a very practical idea. Do a search and you'll find it.

There was a chat a couple years ago that some may recall where everyone could chat at once.

We have tried this in the past. But imature users spoiled the system for everyone else. I don't feel very good hosting a chat room on our servers when users decide to act like idiots, let alone never really talk about anything PC Troubleshooting related.
I'll look into a good software package that will allow us to weed out the boneheads and keep the majority of the users (good people) in. |

I think there is no much need for CHAT here - as most of the techs almost be online 24 hours a day anyway - and if there is need to get deeply and secure help then ther is always ICQ - and Yahoo messenger - I helped several people that way - not last even one PCMECH-MEMBER brought his Defect computer over here to asia from england (he was on vacation)- for repair.. and it now works (this for three months already)and is up and running -..
for me I wouldn't enter a chat room anyway..for Reasons DOK wrote in the post before..
