I need a good case to mod...
In my venture for a pc I've been inspired by VooDoo computer studios to get a case and mod it. Anyone know a good place to get a case?
P.S. Don't forget to stop by the PC-Mechanic IRC Channel!! #pc-mech on irc.asylum-net.org |

If you're just looking for a good, cheap case (since this is gonna be your first mod), I recommend this one from Computer Geeks:
It's a decent case, cost $18.75 plus shipping, the metal in the side panel is fairly thin (easier to cut). The only drawback to it is that big logo on the side panel, but you can easily swap the other side panel out for it. That makes the "GE" upside down on the other side, but who looks at that side anyway? There are no vent holes in the right side panel, which makes it perfect for modding, nothing to get in the way of your design. The PS that comes with the case is a Genica, not the best brand in the world, but I ran my P3 800 with it with no problems for about 6-8 months, 24/7. |

You may want to lurk around the dumpster of your favorite local computer store.
For that matter, go ask them if they have any old ones. There is almost always another geek working in a computer store willing to help a guy out whose aspiring to that level of geekdom. That's how I plan to find my first one for modding anyway. |

Hey KronoLeginaire,
Just stop by a local computer shop or Fry's (if you live near one) and pick up a super cheap case. Swap out the power supply, take out the dremel (must have for case modders), and start cutting. Plextiglass window, paint job, some rheostats, the works. Dont forget to take pics and post 'em.

I just modded my case yesterday, heres some pics:
http://www.geocities.com/charliey14/casemod/ Its a few blowholes, but no paint job yet. Ive bought the paint, but i dont have any where to paint until the weather warms up a bit, because its still winter here, and i cant get anywhere with ventilation. The only problem is that i dont have any thing to over clock except my video card. My cpu is a celeron 500, and the best it can do is 562, so theres no point, because then i get a really wierd fsb.

Check with your local computer shops, chances are at least one of them carries Aopen cases. Those things are probably the most often modded cases in the world. And, AOpen is having a mod contest, believe it or not. Check out their website, www.aopen.com for more details.
The cases themselves are built like a tank. They are great cases. |

Thanks Jenni, That site helped me allot. I've picked the Acer H600A Server Casae. It big, and tall, and I like it. Anyone ever have problems with it and what are some good begginer mods to do with it. I have included a picture of the case.
