Official FAQ on #pc-mech
FAQ
The channel is : #pc-mech on Asylumnet. You can use any IRC client to access the channel like mIRC which I use. ANy further questions may be posted here. IRC SERVER: irc.asylum-net.org I get timeouts and never connect If your running WindowsXP make sure you don't have your firewall on. Try using mIRC and just select Asylumnet in the server options. I know DrZaius, Tiretool and some others have been in but you guys may want to invesigate how your tring to connect, also try port 7777 Do I have to use mIRC? No, As a matter of fact you don't. You can use the java client here I show up, no one is talking and there is only one or two people present. WHats going on? Obviously everyone is gone but will be back soon still stick around and talk. What is the best way to state that I am away To state you are away, have left your computer for an extended period of time or are doing someting else on the pc and cannot chat at this time is to change your name to: AWAY-(your original name). This can be done by typing /nick (desired name). What do I do if I have further questions? Just post your questions in this thread. I would really like to encourage people to come by and chat. Enjoy your day.

I'd like to add what allowed me access on Mirc. Go into options and turn off the time limit for connecting, It may take along time to get on the server, but give it time. I know this worked for HAL too (I think it was him)
Hope to see you guys there!

The Administration here at PC Mechanic does not officially endorse this chat room in anyway. The presence of any of the administration does not reflect endorsement in anyway. Use this chat room at your own risk as it is not monitored by PC Mechanic.

Yep, this is pretty easy. I had never used IRC prior to this, just downloaded the mirc client from www.mirc.com, put in the info and was connected in no time. I'm gonna stick this one up top so more people will see this and hopefully join in.

Hello folks,
Might I suggest that folks arrainge a time to visit. Everyone has their own schedules and a "fly by" may not be the best alternative. I too might attend as soon as I locate a decent client for UNIX. Otherwise, folks maight simply sit about "hoping" to bump into someone. Just a few thoughts. Also, some "nic's" are already held by other users. Identity could become a problem. Therefore, a way to identify 'Mechenites would be useful. Just a few thoughts.

I am taking you seriously, there was no reason not to. But what I'm saying is that this room dosen't need to be endorsed by a website for its patrons to come and have a good time. Hope that clears things up.

This is to inform everyone that the #pc-mech channel has been moved to dal-net. Although the one on asylum-net still exsists it is has been abandoned for Dal-Net's simplicity. I'm sorry if this is inconvient for anyone but this move has been anticipated by me for some time now. I will creat a java-based chat room for those who do not wish to use mIRC or some other program. I will inform you of any further developements.
Connection Information: Server: Dal-Net Channel: #pc-mech |
