Flashing ad gives me a headache!

That flashing GF3 ad is really annoying. It gives me an instant headache. But I have a very low tolerance for bright flashing lights anyway. Look at them and I get an instant headache, and if I look long enough, I'll puke. It runs in my family.

That ad could be dangerous to epileptics.

that ad really disturbs me too. I don't get a headache, but I can't keep my mind off it when it is on the screen. I'd really like to kick the people that create flashing ads. not only are they dangerous for epileptics, but can be very disturbing to people with other disorders (or symptoms of other disorders). I've been able to get rid of it by employing a few tactics though: sometimes you can simply scroll down and that takes care of it. (if your settings are the same as mine) on the front page there is one ad on top, one on bottom: you can scroll down to get rid of the top one, and drag your menu bar at the bottom of your screen to be super tall to cover up the bottom one. also, if you have any applications you can set to run on top of internet activity (like zonealarm) you may be able to cover it up, but I'm having a hard time finding something wide enough.

hope this helps

Jenni - is this the popup or the top banner ad? If it's the popup, you can do things about it like a popup killer or use Opera, which you can set to put popups behind the main window. If it's the banner ad, the only way I know of is to disable image loading.

It's the banner ad ... and yes it is annoying.
Dunno if you've ever seen the show Red/Green ... this guy would fix such problems with duct tape.

It's the banner ad.

Scrolling down is the solution I've been using. Only problem with that is I have to wait for things to load before it will scroll, and sometimes that takes a while on my connection, lol. So I end up having to put my hand over it while the rest of the page loads.

Nope, what you need is something like AdSubtract. No more ads, no more popups.

Or a good up to date "hosts" file. If the ad server is in the hosts file, the ads can't get thru. Adsubtract is good too.

Now that's it's been mentioned, that's all I can see. Something to get used to I suppose ... just hope never to see it at google.
