How many of you get THIS in January?

.

Just what we needed, more rain...and yes, that is one "potential tornado" cell just south of me.

Edit: don't know why the first pic was fouled up...o well, it's ok now!

Hi Jenni,

The Winter weather is weird this year. It's January and our snow here in Iowa, (the .5" (if that) we've gotten so far) is melting away. Almost seems like all the bad winter weather is happening in the south and northeast this year.

Yeah Cobra, seems like you guys in Pensacola get hit all the time. Even stuff that misses us seems to manage to hit you.

BTW, my favorite radio station is 96.1, the Rocket, but it doesn't always come in very good here. Even though I'm 28, I'd rather listen to "classic rock" than the stuff on the radio today.

Colb_dog--I haven't checked the weather today. I guess that means it's headed here next?

Sorry Gintaras. I had to edit this post as it was causing this page to stall and not show anything beyond this post. _HAL9000

Well, where I live it's usually about -30'C and and wind blowing at 30Kmph. Today, it's +8'C with a nice breeze and half the snow is gone already. Go figure?

Well, it was 25F yesterday and is 55F today in my little corner of the People's Republic (Almost) of Missouri. S'posed to be this way all week; soon as all the slush is gone I'll be on my motorcycle trying to kill myself.

Aside: started a new job, I have access to a real-time Doppler radar display. It's nice to see what's coming before driving home.

The subpolar jet has been making very large loops in the west and eastern portions of continental USA--result= colder and drier than normal in these regions...this pattern will most likely perists for at least another 2-3 weeks (ie thru end of l/2002).

The southeast is also far below normal, temp-wise. Only was to get warmth is to travel below about 15 degrees north latitude

Here in Eastern Mass--weather has been far below norms for precip-and slightly below for temps.

Jenni-= where did u access that great doppler radar????!!!!!..u can sumtines spot tornados via radar in that they show a comma shapped pattern embedded in an area of severe thunderstorms (ie high doppler readings).

Talking

www.intellicast.com

Type in your ZIP code. After it loads the forecast, click on Severe Weather on the left. After that loads, click on 1km Stormwatch. The 1km Stormwatch Loop is cool too, as is the Radar Summary, which gives cloud top heights, direction, hail detected, and all that cool stuff.

Intellicast kicks serious booty compared to weather.com.
