Dont care what the concensus is about Apple but ..
This is what my next machine will be. Enough with the predictable goop my mind has to look forward to ..
http://www.apple.com/imac Have been drooling all morning. Know there are lots of drawbacks, but this is just too good! .. well IMO |

you can say alot of negative things about Apple, but damn do they have a crackerjack design staff....can't understand why wintel builders can't get into the swing of this and produce more than just plain beige boxes (i know it is a highly competitive, margin driven business and the ROI does not appear to great, but in this world you need to differentiate yourself from your competition and this would be a great way of doing it).

This is the first time I am willing to forget a dead-end investment. Have given up plans of getting the Dull Dimension notebook I was planning for next month; I pray that any flaws like the cracks in the "cube" turn up before that. I've always liked Apple's ideas .. the price has never appealed to me. And now I've seen something that is actually competitively priced as well for performance.
Its true, wish PC-clones would start something new in terms of design; when was the last time, they took a chance with a technology that worked (Jobs put his products on the line with USBs & FireWires long before .. what have we got from the PC .. AMR ).

i actually agree with you, bossman. But, it is nice to see someone actually say they LIKE something Apple did. As opposed to just not hate it.
personally, i think the new imac is cool as heck, and, overpriced for the target market. but, so is most of apple product. i am saving my money and waiting for G5 PowerMacs. |

If money were no object, I'd buy one of those dual G4 800's in a heartbeat. And the 21" display to go with it. And those cool Harmin Kardon Speaker Sticks.
And a partridge in a pear tree... |

The DVD burner makes the price not so bad at all.

Damn, didn't see this thread when I posted mine. Oh well.
And Jenni, I have one of those 21" cinema displays -- My wife's convinced that I have another women hiding in my studio because I just can't seem to leave. -Craig |
