Sarge,
I did so many things that I can't say for sure. However, I did uninstall ZA completely and I mean all of it. What a stubborn program to uninstall. Remove it, Easycleaner, Regcleaner, registry deletes and there were still residual pieces of it. So everything that had a ZA, Zonelabs, Truvector, etc, I deleted. After doing the same for Enternet300, I installed and configured the Linksys without a problem. Went to Mwave right now! Best part is with the firmware upgrade on the Linksys, my speed increased to 1356 d/l and 140 u/l. Thanks for standing by me. Carl |

ZA, tell me about it!! My problem began when I uninstalled it, except I didn't dig deep enough like you did. Had to reinstall to go surfing.
1356/140 ? I'm stuck at 1307/134 Try this site and report back (or mail): http://chi.speakeasy.net/ BTW, have you toyed with the MTU settings, using Dr. TCP? It's free over at dsl joint.

Sarge,
I ran the Tweak Test over at dslreports with my MTU set at 1492 and it comes back everything OK. No adjustments need to be made. Carl |

I have a hunch Carl's problems evolve around the Linksy's/Zone Alarm combo. Like ylen 13, I too have seen this problem popping up for folks, but with different variations. I've already mentioned it, but my problems were after uninstalling ZA. I've done this numerous times with no problems, but this time I had a Linksy's in the mix. I couldn't surf anywhere, even with dialup. Did the whole winsock bit, registry cleanup, ran a SFC which found no files missing, every fix I could think of. Luckily I had a copy of the download for ZA. Reinstalled it and all is well. Whatever it took with it upon uninstall, no one can explain.

Sarge,
I've got ZA uninstalled and I can browse anywhere except for those same sites as before that have an IP that starts with 192.xxx.xx. I do not know why it worked for 48 hours and then quit. I'm rather discouraged. Carl |

Just got RMA from Mwave for the Linksys router. Of course I had to do it from work. Sure couldn't do it from home.

When you get it, leave the firmware as it is.

Sarge,
I'll leave it alone. Carl Admin, If you wish, you may lock this thread. When I'm ready to try another installation of router, I will use Internet/WWW. I really didn't think this would be carried this far on this forum. Thank you, Carl |

Carl, I still think it's a Windoze thing. We'll find out soon. BTW, doesn't Modesto have a Comp USA, etc., where you can buy things versus mwave? May not save a few $$, but sure makes it easier when exchanging, returning, etc.

Hi Sarge,
We have CompUSA,(the highest price), Best Buy, Circuit City, (junk, off brand), OfficeMax, Office Depot, to name a few. I've bought items from all of them. If I had bought the router from Best Buy, the return policy would have been up two weeks ago. I do believe the problem is my Windoz. I'm on Enternet300 and still can't access the mentioned sites. Something is missing or corrupted and an install over Windows doesn't help. One way or another, I'll get it to work. Carl |

Carl, I've heard of folks trying to reinstall Windoze over itself and not fixing. I was reading about someone trying to get rid of the spyware "Webhancer"; he did but it screwed up the Winsock. Reinstalling the OS didn't help. A reformat did.
