Court Decision
- Marijuana users can drive legally in Idaho as long as they don't drive erratically and can pass a field sobriety test, a federal appeals court ruled Monday.
Well that should drive the population of Oregon and Northern California down. While Idaho will become the new silicon valley. |

That is really sad, and funny at the same time. Laws that should be passed are actually passed up because of political issues, but these stupid ones find their way through. The U.S. worries me sometimes.

Lawyers are about the dopiest people in the world.
Get a group of children together, and you will have a dispute. Left alone, the dispute will soon be settled, one side wins, one side loses, unless a compromise is reached. Next day, no one remembers the dispute. Let two adults have a dispute, and two or more lawyers step in, create their cases, spend months or years arguing, and guess what. The dispute is settled, everyone loses except the lawyers, and grudges are carried. In neither case does right or wrong matter. It is who is stronger, who is more influential, who has more money. The dopehead in Idaho had enough money, obviously. |

Spyda - I live in England too and although its true there aren't drunken car chases often we still have a large amount of people who drink and drive (or take drugs and drive) that just don't get caught.
You don't need to be so out of it that you are all over the road to be a hazard! But you are quite right about Blair. |

From the article that I read, the reason for the overturned decision is that the defendant was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence (of alcohol or narcotics), and since the law did not list marijuana as a narcotic, he never should have been charged with DUI.
What disturbs me more, is that he walked from some rather serious weapons charges (possession of "illegal homemade grenades, a sawed-off shotgun and a modified rifle with a homemade silencer" - ABCNews.com article). I know and understand that by overturning the original conviction, you removed the reason for the police search of his vehicle which discovered the evidence of the weapons, but where is the justice in allowing someone who broke the law to walk? Your thoughts Ron? |
