50 Inch Monitors

I was just wondering if anyone has ever seen one of these 40-50 inch Plasma monitors with your own eyes?Just wondering how the detail is on one.I will Never be able to get one(unless I hit the lotto ,but I was looking around on the web,and ran across a few.Are these things worth 6000-1000 bucks?Just wondering what they looked like in real life. They sure look good in the pictures, but pictures are not always very accurate. One more question, what is Plasma, and what does it do?In other words how do these work? Thanks for any info, and in the mean time ill sit back and wish I could get one

Plasma screens are like 3 million little colored floresent lights shooting off at the same time. And the price tages are more like $7,000 (Philips 43") to $26,000 Zenith and NEC 60".

They look great but one thing -- since they technically have no lines of resolution, they are not truly High Definition. But they have great pictures none the same. As a computer monitor, I've seen one used as wall art -- a guy down in a suburb of Chicago has one in his game room -- when he's not watching it, it's got these very cool motion graphics that were designed by Autodesk (makers of AutoCAD) that make the OpenGL screensavers (like the new aquariumXP screensaver) look pathetic.
