Computer Mags
Hi
I was just wondering what the members of PCMECH read for computer magazines. I'm thinking about subscribing and was just wondering what people thought were the good ones to get. Thanks |

Hi DUSTIN,
I don't subscribe to computer magazines anymore (stopped about 2 years ago)...the internet is more up to date with news and articles. When magazines arrive, the information is usually months out-of-date. Cricket

I'm going to go with Dr. Z on this one. I like Maximum PC. It seems to cover things pretty thoroughly.

The only one I subscribe to anymore is Maximum PC, most of the others just put out the manufactures line whereas MaxPC is not afraid to tell it like it is. Also for an online newsletter, subscribe to ZDnets daily one.

If gaming is your thing you should read PC GAMER.
If there is a good mag about Linux, please let me know. TIA.

Hi Nuclear Krusader,
You may want to check out Linux Magazine, for a magazine that deals with Linux. |

I read PC World and PC Magazine and Maximum PC but do not subscribe. I can get them all on the web for free and they are updated when I read them. Print issues are weeks behind before they hit your mailbox

PCMag for Dvorak.
Linux Magazine for Linus (though I am not sure why they are running Microsoft ads).

i get pc magazine and i think it's great, but it seems they're starting to really become more of consumer analysts for the average joe. they don't really get in depth with computers and really push out of the box stuff (compaq, dell, ibm, etc). it's still a great mag for tech gadgets and new products though. and it gives you a great idea of what's top of the line these days. from what i read here though, i think i'll try a copy of maximum pc.
