I was blind - but now I see!
Well,
I finally got round to using WebWasher. Many of you have recommended this program and after about a year (I don't like rushing these things) I decided to give it a whirl. After all, it's free. www.webwasher.com What a difference! My web browsing on my old P2 450 has speeded up considerably with all the advertising filtered. No more waiting for minutes for slow ad servers before I can view a page. Hooray! Good program and no conflicts (so far) with EZ-Trust Anti-Virus or ZoneAlarm. I thoroughly recommend it. Now I can't wait to try WinXP....in a few years time. |

I've used Ad Subtract past few months (thanks to Hal's promo). Seems to block the ads (50+ in a few minutes at PCMech). I'll try the Web Washer as well.

The new beta didn't work correctly on my system, maybe I'll try the original if I have time.

Actually Sarge, so does Ad-Aware, it just doesn't let you know about it.

Sarge,
Have had no problems letting it be proxy. Saving pages used to be a chore on some Web Sites because of the time it was taking for the ads to download. I tested them again last night and they are saving as quickly as a knife thro butter. Obviously as I'm still using a slower dial-up ISP, any way to improve download time is a boon. |
