i think thats what IP stants for anyway if you have a router.. how do you tell your actual ip adress and can anyone tell me how to manage your linksys firewall and stuff

As I remember, one of the admin pages (status page?) in the router will give you your "WAN IP" which is your real IP address. You manage the router with a browser, browse to http://192.168.1.1. Read the manual that came with the router, it's very well written, and advanced topics are covered in the Help section of the router admin pages. If you still have specific questions, post them in the Networking forum.

Yes GLC, the WAN adress is right there on the status page. I remember a while ago I tried all kinds of things to try and find my IP, before I just looked on the router setup page

Heres a pic of that page for reference (don't hack me!) also, to manage the firewall, go in to the advanced tab, and click DMZ settings, and port fowarding.... You can either disable the DMZ or just certain ports if you need them (Servers etc...)
