I think you hit it just right. Distrust! Like you, I've been around a few years to read or hear about some big scientist's findings only to have them proven false. If having X cups of coffee gives you cancer, I should be long gone and on and on. I think it goes back to the money. If different groups of researchers are working to solve a particular problem, obviously the first group with an announcement gets the fame, reputation, and big, fat grants. So they jump to the press before they do the long arduous testing required to prove their findings. There are just to many people that believe Al Gore and his prattle and that feeds the hysteria whenever a new finding is made. They were running out of substance so now they have lowered themselves to smelling cow farts. Carl |
