Laptop Screens
Basic question. Is there *any* way that I could use the lcd screen from a laptop as a monitor for my computer without utilizing the actualy system because its dead. Also, dose anyon eknow where I could get like schematic for a an old ctx laptop so that I can find out which wires are power and what voltage, watt is required. Thanks

"Are you guys ignorant to my question"
Don't you think that's an insulting way to ask? |

uh huh. I knew you would say someting if I posted that. Its ok, because if you look the word ignorant up it acutally means, not to know of. I'm not insulting anyone in anyway, its just that that word has a negitive meaning which society has taped to it. Hey, no apologies needed - I was just asking, never called anyone anything.

The answer to the best of my knowledge is NO. The laptop monitor works by applying voltage to X Y junctions to illuminate a dot and collectively form a picture. In the regular monitor, the system is quite different. An electron beam is projected on to the screen, which is the inside surface of the Cathode ray tube. This electron beam is swept across the screen illuminating the phosphore dots and describing each line from top to bottom. The deflection of the beam is controlled by electromagnets placed arround the Electron gun. There are other cosiderations which I leave out in this discussion. As you can see the two systems are incompatable. Therefore you cannot use the Laptop screen to work as a cathode ray tube or vice versa. Any one who would like to elaborate would be welcomed. |

Krono, I think a simple "bump" would have been a lot more tactful.

I dont think it would work with a regular vid card for a start you would have to make a connector for it and you would have to find some way of powering it as it does not have its own internal power supply

It would work and I've seen it work (I've seen old laptop LCD's used for a lot of things like a security system monitor, a closed caption box....lots of things). But Krono, you've just got a way about you -- and for that, I for one won't help you. I'm sick of crap like that -- "come help me for I said so".
Did you ever think someone might have been researching it for you? Or maybe the right people just hadn't read your post. In any event, your ego's a bit much for my blood -- when you come to the realization that we're not here for your gratification, maybe people like me will be more willing to help people like you. -Craig |

Its ok, I found out not too long ago. Its more like Death Bowl 22 in here than a Pc Help Forum. People stabbing eachother, and taking comments the wrong way.

You (amongst others) were asked by a moderator to check your attitude & you persist. Trying to get the last word in is a rather immature attitude. So now, consider this an official warning for your personal benifit, that such behaviour will not be tolerated. I urge you to go through the F.A.Q. to see how it violates the board's policy. We are here to try to help, and irrespective of what you feel there are thousands here who feel that help is being provided on this site. If you do not find the help that you feel you deserve feel free to type up another address, or as Dok would say click on the [x]. Trolling for a flame war wont get you very far out here.
