What was the last thing...

you didn't have that some form of advertising convinced you that you needed?

For me I guess it was a Dremel tool so I could cut the heads off nails.

My Diamond Supra 2730.
Advertised heavily by Sarge at 56K. com. Sometimes I think he got a kick-back from Supra. Excellent product though!!

I've never been influenced for advertising for tech .. I usually disregard it all, and go with benchmarks and my own research or experience.

What I always fall for is movie advertising .. I am such a sap! I cannot believe the money I shell out for, and then come away feeling awful.

Yeah, but with movies, it's understandable, because the trailers are always SOO sweet. Even for movies that have sucked beyond all belief, the trailers were usually good.

I don't usually buy things, and I pretty much avoid TV, I don't read magazines, and I ignore online ads, so I don't *get* much advertising. I'd be a tough sale anyway, because although I spend lots of money on others, I hate spending money on myself.

Can't think of anything off hand, but I'm sure there's been something. I do get a real kick out of tv ads that begin their pitch with "Send no money....blah, blah, blah". I always think "Don't worry."

I can't remember the last thing I bought solely because of the advertising. Probably some kind of fast-food item or something small like that. Whenever I need to buy something big, I turn to Consumer Reports or a forum like this one to get the scoop about the quality of the product instead of the quantity of advertising. I am definitely a marketer's nightmare.

Mine would probably have to be a Playstation 2 that I finally got around to getting a few weeks ago since they dropped the price a little on 'em. Those damn commercials for Gran Turismo 3 always got to me. Had to tie myself to the couch to keep from blowing the money on it when it first came out.

I love the ads, myself, promising that he'll send me a kit that shows how he made money.

But I already *know* how he makes money, he makes money selling those stupid kits!

There's a thin line between "sense of humor" and "tolerance for freaks with kinky sex preferences".

My digital camera. I knew it wasn't as good as my Canon EOS, but it sure did look convenient. It is convenient, because I don't have to pay someone to put my pics on disk, now. If I really want good pictures, though, I stick with the film.

Just PS2 games. I don't usually buy things because of advertisements. My last PS2 purchase was Medal of Honor. Sweet game.
