Question Where were you on September 11, 01?

This post is not trying to bring back bad memories, I just think its better to talk about stuff like this... it still bothers me, i dont know if it still bothers you, thats why im posting this.

Well, this was a weird day... I had been p-oed because Sept. 10.01 I got picked on a lot, I thought about suicide because life wasn't worth it, I was a 13 yr old kid, poor, wearing clothes that barely even fit me, I didn't like my life and I didn't see a reason to live. I went home looking for my dagger, then I turned on my computer and finally calmed the f*ck down.I forgot about my dagger and I stayed on mostly...

September 11, 2001 I showed up at school, and I was ready to go off on anybody that looked at me wrong. 8:40am the 1st bell rang and I slowly walked into class thinking about the worst thing to happen was to get picked on, I was wrong... 8:45am im in class and we're doing work, the hour went by fast, I don't remember anything bad that happened in that hour, it was like nobody wanted to pick on me because they knew I was ready to go off on anybody.

Finally the 2nd bell rang, I went to my 2nd period class, did some work and half way into the period the principal came on the speaker and tried to explain it the best way possible that 2 air-planes just crashed into the Twin Towers in NYC. I was a little freaked out, a little skeptical, I didn't know what to expect. finally we all finished our work and the teacher turned on the TV and wanted to see what was going on herself, we watched and listen to the anchor say that 2 airplanes crashed into the world trade center at exactly 8:45 am. One thing I immediately thought of was my uncle, he lives in NY and works at the WTC, now that hit me the hardest. It also freaked me out

I began to cry a little bit because to see the WTC collapse like it did was like-- it was freaky to me. Finally the 3rd period bell rang and I literaly ran to the 3rd period class because I wanted to see what the hell happened... I sat right in front of the TV and had tears flowing down my eyes.

4th period was lunch -- the only period I have atleast 3 friends in (I can count my offline friends on one hand, can you?) we were all freaked out, I went and immediately called my mom and told her to come and get me because everybody was getting signed out. 5th period I my teacher didn't make us do work or anything, she said we could either do work, or watch tv. -- I watched TV because I couldn't do work, I was an emotional wreck.

6th period my mom came and got me and let me stay home on the 12th-- I was seriously freaked out for my uncle n I couldn't reach him. Finally wednesday around 3pm he called the house and let everyone know that he was okay.

That was a relief to me. If you can please share what happened to you on Sept. 11.

This was a very strange time for me. My mother had gone in the hospital on Labor Day, had been diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer and given 3 months to live. On Sept. 11, She called me from the hosptial at about 11 AM, telling me that the WTC had been hit by the planes and had collapsed. She also told me that she was being discharged from the hosptial...they said they were making room for possible attack victims (I live in NJ, and could see the WTC from her hosptial room). She came home that night...and went back to the hospital two days later in tremendous pain. She passed away on September 25. It was weird. It's hard to get too emotional about the whole WTC thing because of the tragedy going on in my own life at the time.

I was at work and all of a sudden I just felt that I had to turn the TV on. I still remember the stupid CBS reporter saying, when the second plane hit, that he still though it was an accident.

I was in the middle of basically nowhere - in a rural part of Britisih Columbia. I had been driving a tractor-trailer very late into the night, and I was asleep in the bunk when the disasters occurred.

Oddly, for me, I had slept very poorly, sweating, and dreaming alot (about what, I do not know). I woke and began driving late in the morning. It was sometime later before I reached an area where my cell phone worked. My phone soon rang - it was a friend of mine calling to tell me what had happened. At first, I didn't believe her, but as she went into detail I realized that she'd never make up such a thing. It was the first communication I'd had with anyone that day; I hadn't even had a radio on.

That was a very dark day. Although I listened to many radio broadcasts after that, it was several days before I was near a television. NOT seeing it had somehow made it even more horrific. Then I saw, and it was more horrific again. I know that doesn't make any sense. It never will.

I was at work listening to Howard Stern. All of a sudden he said that the WTC was on fire so we turned on the TV and started watching. For the rest of that day we just sat there and watched TV. First time I'd ever heard EVER radio station broadcasting TV. There wasn't one single station that was playing music that day.

i used to work the night shift. i got home around 8 am.
fiddled around on my computer and fixed breakfast, turned on nbc to watch regis and kelly who was airing a 9 at the time when katie couric and matt were on explaining that a plane had hit the wtc. i first thought it was a small private plane but keep watching, later to find out it was a big commercial airline. later on in the broadcast they were interviewing a woman using her cell phone and there were showing the wtc from a different angle when the other plane hit.....i was shocked. dropped the fork and ran and sat in front of the tv for 6 hours.

my mom had passed just one month prior......so i was adjusting to life without her.
hey ipc man i feel your pain....i am the only child. it was hard.

I remember that day we had a late arrival (8:45) at school for some reason... So actually, when I woke up, came downstairs and my dad and I started watching the morning shows... So I actually saw it all from the starts, but before the second plane hit, I had to go to school. It was kind of a mystery then, and the halls were abuzz with freaked out kids spreading all kinds of rumors ("They are starting a draft for all 18 yr olds!!!" "We were nuked!") etc... They finnaly told us more throughout the day, and the whole time I kinda was in shock I guess, like days after I kept thinking "no, that didn't happen, how could it?"

I was watching a local news show before going to work when they cut to the fire after the first plane hit. I was watching when the second plane hit and I couldn't believe it. Later, after I went to work, we sat around one of the few TVs in the building pretty much all day. When the towers fell, it was surreal.

I was at home working on some programming for class. I was debugging at that point, because it was all pretty much written. I had turned the phone off, so I could concentrate. About noon, I decided to check my email, and get some lunch. There were 3 emails from my wife, which is rare since she was at work, and she had given me a couple of links to a news story that I HAD to see. I couldn't get on because of the traffic, so I called her. She told me about what was going on, and it just stunned me. I think I was one of the last people in America to find this out. I decided to go down the street to a diner, and watch CNN with all the Old-timers for lunch. These guys, all 65+, were ready to put on their guns again, and server their country. I tell you what, I gained a whole new respect for these men who served in WWII, and would still do it today if they had the chance.

I was ay work, cursing corporate IT for not getting my lap top back to me (hard drive fried from overheating). Got a call from my outside sales counter part asking if I knew anything about planes hitting the WTC.

Got my laptop back. Saw a bazillion emails on the subject, fired up the IP TV applicaiton (pipes TV channels on the corporate WAN/LAN) and watched it all happen.

Several hours later we got both good news and bad news: Our NY office (not far from ground zero) was OK, everyone there was safe. The bad news is we lost one of corporate friends on one of the flights.

Twas a heavy day for all of us.

Will never forget.

I was driving down the west coast of Scotland in my van, switched the radio on and heard something on the news about the Pentagon being hit, kept the radio on but no more news so I thought some guys on the radio were talking about a moveie or something.

Got back to work and one of the other drivers came up to me saying "Hey, have you heard the news, terrorists have blown half of America away". Strange because, nobody was caring about the usual work things, nobody was working....just talking.

I had just pulled up to the school to drop my kids off when I heard the news report that a plane had hit the first WTC building. I asked the boys to be quiet so we could listen, and all I could do was say "Oh my God!" We all began to pray for those people. I rushed home as quickly as I could, and just as I switched on the TV to get any updates, the second plane hit. I spent most of the day in front of the TV after that, save for picking up kids from school. When my husband got home from work he knew nothing about what had happened. He walked in and saw that I had been crying and asked what was wrong. I told him but he didn't believe that it was possible until I got him in front of the TV. I will never forget that day. Never. When I went to the school at lunch time, the teachers on break were in a room watching the TV as well. They were giving the children a little information but leaving the details for the parents to give. Everyone I spoke to that day was in shock. It still just seems so unreal.

God bless the USA!

I was sitting here reading posts at PCMECH. Everyone was going off about a call to arms, but not saying what was going on, so I tried to hit the news sites. Couldn't get to any of them. Turned on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit.

Well I was in English class, and that's when the announcement came over. But my next class was CAD, which we had internet access in. My teacher forgot about class really, and we wen't on-line to find pictures and information. The announcement hadn't said anything about the towers collapsing, but that's what we found in the internet. No one believed us, but we were the only people that actually knew, other than the faculty probably, what really happened to the towers. There was another announcement, I think, later in the day about the towers. After my CAD class it all sort of blended together cause I wasn't really caring about class etc. But I remember by Bio teacher having the goddamn nerve to continue class like nothing happened...

I wouldn't be so hard on your teacher. When a tragedy of this magnitude strikes, people don't know what to do. While some grieve, others feel that grasping onto their familiar routine is the only way to keep from being overwhelmed. Everybody responds in different ways, though that doesn't mean they don't feel it.

Hey man, serve yer time and get out (of school).
The real world is an entirely different thing than what goes on behind that wall. Kids can be animals, just don't be one yourself.

I was at the county licensing office and wondered what the heck all this was on the radio and tv. I had not heard what was going on and here all these people were quiet and reserved. After I heard enough to figure out what was happening, all I can say is I got mad.
They will get what they deserve.

On Monday of that tragic week, I had just landed in Las Vegas for the start of my annual family vacation. My mother, my grandparents (at the time my grandfather of 92 years of age was still alive), my two aunts, and my cousin (her first trip to Vegas) all accompanied me on what should have been a joyful week. I remember watching Monday night football in one of the Las Vegas sports parlors, wondering if life could get any better than this. I fell asleep later on that night with the television still on (something I never do) and remember waking up the next morning between 6-7:00 Vegas time. The first tower had already been hit and collapsed at that point in time, and the second tower has already been hit. I kept watching the television screen, just hoping that what I was experiencing was just a horrible nightmare. I watched the second tower tumble and was once again in total shock. I watched television for the next 5 hours, not wanting to leave for one minute for fear of missing something. Here I am in one of the greatest vacation spots in the world, and I didn't want to leave the hotel room. As the rest of the week progressed, I couldn't get the incident out of my mind. It definitely put a damper on my trip, as all I could think about was those poors souls who perished in the collapse of both of the towers. Later on in the week, I freaked out even more, when I heard a rumor that Vegas was possibly another terrorist target. To this day, I think about the people who perished on that historic day; I'm quite sure that the vivid memory of 911 will never leave my memory banks.

it was a day i actually got to sleep in before going to work. so, i'm sound asleep and my dad rushes in from the garage screaming something about us being attacked. i turned on my tv, and saw the two towers on fire. i decided to take my shower since it was probably going to be a long day, so i take like a 5 minute shower, comb my hair, brush my teeth, all that good stuff, then come out and both towers are gone. it was sad... getting to work that day took maybe 20 minutes when it usually takes 40. the freeways were empty. i work next to a small airport, and it was weird to see no planes in the air. i came in to work, and surprisingly everyone was here. we all just sat and worked like every other day, but i kept checking the cnn website for updates on the situation. i went to school after work, and everyone was all a bustle. a lot of the people in the reserves showed up in fatigues (i guess they were told to in case they were immediately called to action). it was eerie walking around with most people in normal dress slacks and shirts, and then to see a whole bunch of military personnel. after that, i went home and say my whole family still glued to the tv. i went online to finish up my homework and downloaded some videos of the event just to capture it before everyone cut it off. i finished up my homework and went to bed.

I was asleep because I had gotten in about 2am and had no morning appointments - and a friend called me and woke me up (just before when the alarm was set to go off anyway) telling me we were at war - I immediately turned on CNN and stayed glued to the tube all day. I canceled all appointments for the next couple of days, went out and stocked up on groceries and filled my gas tank.

I was sleeping in my apartment till about 9am so I could get ready for my first class of the day at the University of North Texas. When My alarm went off the radio came on saying the US is under attack. So I hop out of bed, checked the internet new, turned on the TV and left the radio running. I went up to school around 9:40 and walked around to see what was really going on. Everyone was crowded around the TV's in the lounge watching CNN. Most people were in tears as they watched both towers fall. If I was allowed to join the military I definately would have signed up that that very same day. I have never been so pissed off before in my life! Coming from a strong military family, I guess the need for getting justice through war is in my veins. around 11am, the entire university was shut down so everything could be searched. They scoured the place with firefighters, police officers, bomb sniffing dogs and god knows what else. On my way home the streets were so crowded, since school was shut down. Imagine a school of 28,000 students, plus 5,000+ faculty members leaving at once. It took me 45 minutes just to get home(I live three blocks away from campus). We'll find the people responsible...

I was in geometry class second period, and the principal came in and told the teacher he turned on the TV as soon as the second plane hit, and then the teacher started teaching class again and turned the TV off! :-( Then we start talking to each about who did it and they mentioned Bin Laden and everyone started to talking of other bad things he did too.

Man... There is alot of things that I have/should say about September 11, but I won't. All I am gonna say us do whats in ur heart to do on Sept 11, 02, What im gonna do is lower my flag to half post, get up at 8:45, sing the national anthem in front of my house, and stay glued to the tv. I think that school shouldn't happen on a day like Sept. 11. Im gonna stock up on Sept 10, because as long as we dont got bin laden in custody, then we are at a high risk for another attack and if it comes down to another terrorist attack I hope you all don't take it as bad as I did.

Im out for tonight -- tired.-- peace

I WAS CLOSE

At approx. 9:30 am I was traveling up over Laurel Mountain to my First job of the day and at that time was within 5mi of where the plane that would come down here in PA. I got up to job at 10 and was checking in at recp desk, and everyone was talking about the towers and the pentagon crash. I thought they were just kidding around, or it was some kind of emergency drill. After going down into equip room for about an hour and coming back up to sign out, now they were talking about plane that just came down right near us. I appearantly just made it back over the mountain to my town before they closed the road down. Nothing but State Troopers and emergency vehicles heading up the mountain as I was headed back down.Stopped and got my little boy from school, went home and glued to the TV rest of day, and company voice mailed us all to just go home they closed us down for the rest of the day. Really was a very weird eerie kind of a day, seemed like you could just feel something in the air!

Had a lousy day of school, then at 9pm I was going upstairs to my room to sleep when i passed by the lounge where there were alot of my fellow boarders were watching tv. I popped in to find out what was the commotion all about, and at that moment saw the two towers collapse. Didn't get much sleep that night thinking of what those people there experienced and watching the telly.

I never watch the news or listen to the radio, and that morning for some reason I didn't have time to visit any news sites as I regularly do. I went to my first class and my aquantance next to me told me that the world trade center had collapsed. I'll never forget it, because I almost laughed. partly because I didn't really think (or didn't want to think) it was true, and partly because I didn't really know handle it if it was. When I heard another guy yelling back to someone that another had hit the pentagon and yet another had crashed somewhere then I realized that this was real, and like all of us, I was thinking that if they could coincide 4 attacks on one day, what else could happen that day? I skipped my classes and went home to watch the tv all day. so now for the rest of my life when people ask me where I was when I found out about the WTC I'll think about me almost laughing when I heard about it. not cool.

I was playing around on my computer and switch it over to a TV broadcast, I had a TV converter hook up to my computer. Starting staring as I saw a plane go into the WTC, I stared at the screen for a good 10 seconds and thinking I must have turn on some bad movie, flip the channel and realized it was real. Race out to the Family room and watch it non-stop for about 4 hours, this is something that I hope never happens again.

We will always remember Sept 11, 2001! We won't forget! Osama we WILL get you!

No I don't think we will get Bin Laden. At least not alive.

It was a tragedy, I remember turning it on, and watching the screen most of the day. And I felt very disgusted, as Bush got off his special jet, told what we were going to do, and hopped right back on. Instead of going back to NYC, he flew above the clouds for 24 hours.

I was very saddened and shocked by the loss of life. I really can't express it. Most of all I could think about was : Who did it, and how.

Anyway, it still saddens me to think of 6000 souls gone.
