Cool Wife Says No Computers on Vacation!

Hello there;
Getting ready for VACATION Tomorrow, Leaving for Baltimore Inner Harbor area. Wife wants to see no Computers but with 4hr. drive with 5&7 year old boys I've about got her convinced that since I have a car adapter for my older laptop, they could have something to do in the back seat if we bring it along. Sure many of you know how that goes, about 15 minutes out they start the "ARE WE THERE YET???" Will be gone till next Saturday, anyone been there, everyone I've ran into says it is a great place to go, just don't venture too far away from inner Harbor especially at night.
KK

I've got to agree with Demosthenes, it is a beautiful place. I'm orignally from Lancaster, Pa and I used to go down there quite often. Enjoy yourself, and be safe!!

I used to love going to Hershey Park and, of course, the candy factory!! Lancaster is a great place to visit too as long as you watch out for the Amish and their horse and buggies, especially around the Amish towns like Intercourse, Blue Ball, and Paradise.

Yea, we were joking about some of those names as we were driving along with 4&6 year old boys who thought they were funny too, but if they only knew!!
We did one of those Authentic dinners at an Amish familys palce, that was quite interesting. They used a cordless Makita drill with somekind of attachment to whip up the mashed potatoes. Food was great though, and plenty and learned alot about what they believe and why they live as they do. Hit the quilt shop too and thought maybe we would get one, didn't realizt hey start out at about 500 dollars!!

Don't go to the inner harbor. I don't like it. There is very little to do there. I had to spend a day there last weekend and all i did was sit in Barnes and Nobels because all the other places were lame. all the is is a food court, a few lame boats, and some office buildings. there is a science museum but its closed for renovations right now. I hope I'm not getting this message to you too late!!!

We're leaving tomo after Lunch, but your the first one to say it is lame, anyways were not planning to spend all our time there. Going to beaches, washDC, probably SixFlags America, just that were going to stay at a hotel out near BWI. Sure hope were not too close though, I don't sleep well in hotels anyways, let alone having to listen to jets all night. Was going to get our tickets in advance for that National aquarium online but will wait to see what is all there!! THANKS for the heads up Bobo!

I may be a bit biased as well. I have done everything in the harbor and it is boring for me the last time i went. But, the Aquarium is great fun, and as long as you don't intend to spend the whole week in the inner harbor you should have great fun. SixFlags America is awesome, i love that park. In washington DC there are a bazillion things to do. If your kids are 14-17 you may want to visit Johns Hopkins, Towson, etc. to see some great universities (Johns hopkins is a great campus). I hope you can make the best of this area, and i only meant that the inner harbor area is boring after several visits.

Good Luck to you ktkendall!!!!

Love

Bo;
As you can see in my original post my kids are 5&7, but were thinking of probably a day at inner harbor, day at six flags, day at beach, day at washDC, and 1 full day left over for something, and the day we check out could probably fit a little something in!! Sure we'll have a good one, I'm just looking so forward to getting away, havn't been out of town for school in 2 years cause economy is bad and company has suspended all out of town training. The daily routine gets to me, that is why we have vacations I suppose!
THANKS for all the replies!!!

Hey ktkendall, I was just watching the news and it seems that when you do get to Baltimore you'll be able to see what happens to a 750 ton crane when it gets rammed by a ship!!! It happened today in Baltimore Harbor and, luckily, no one was hurt in that accident. They showed pictures of what was left of the crane and, believe me, you couldn't tell it was a huge crane. However, they didn't show a picture of the ship that rammed it. Like I said, I was just watching the news and that report came on and I thought of and your familes trip so I thought I'd just drop you a line. Have a good and safe trip!!!!!!!!!!
