You might want to rethink shopping at Target
A friend of mine from college sent me this this morning -- my wife just called from Target to confirm what the article states.

it's 05 on fubu... and why is it ok for them to sell fubu stuff, but 88 (if it does mean something bad, which i sort of doubt) is wrong? that's like saying the ss on old camaro's and impala's stands for the ss of nazi fame. i think this might have to move to http://forumclick.com

Craig,
It won't make me stop shopping at Target. These things have happened to all the big retailers, Sears, WalMart, etc.... |

First, I posted this as an FYI -- draw your own conclusions from it and do your own research.
Second, 8 8 or Eight Eight (not 88 or Eighty Eight) has long been apart of the white supremist culture. It's established and a given. After WWII, Nazi's throughout Europe greeted each other by saying "Achtundachtzig". Achtundachtzig means literally Eight-Eight (our 'translation of it would be eighty-eight). Although this underground code eventually died throughout Europe, it has made it's way back in the White Supremist movement throughout North America. (As a side note, did you know that April 20 is an official state holiday in Idaho?? -- 4/20 is Hitler's birthday.) If the moderators feel this topic is better suited to forumclick then so be it -- but last I looked homer, you're not a mod and as I recall, they did request that members not try and do their job. But beyond that, I feel that the topic as a whole does fit within the FAQ: Quote:
And it is long established that "SS" on any GM car means Super Sport. Check their catalog. ![]() -Craig |

i didn't say i was a moderator, i was just saying that i can see this discussion could clearly get out of hand. anything related to racism or some kind of touchy subject is normally cut down very quickly. i would like to continue this topic, though, and see other peoples views of the subject. that is why i suggested forumclick. over there, it's open to whatever. here, it's really too clean cut for something like this.

Geez, and all this time I thought 88 was just Dale Jarrett's Nascar number!
Really though, I don't see the purpose in pulling it from the shelves. This is no different, IMO, than the gangs and all their "your wearing my colors" crap. Nobody owns a color, and just like that, a number means nothing. I had a girl pass me on the highway the other day and her license plate had the usual letters and then the numbers 666. Does that mean I just got passed by Satan himself. Yeah, the devil drivin' a Hyundai. Anyway, all I'm saying is, the number is only what you make it out to be. It's things like this that keep this great country divided into separate races rather than one "group" of people living in harmony. If we'd all put our thinking of "that number means this" or "that color means that" behind us and put as much effort into actually getting along, we'd be a hell of a lot happier. (No offense to you Craig; I realize you're just passing along the story and are not necessarily guilty of this type of thinking). Just my opinion, as usual.
