PM's

Hi all,

Came across this:

"Sorry! You cannot send that message at the moment because the administrator has specified that you may only send one message every 60 seconds"

How come there is this limit? Never seen it before. Just curiuos.

I think I've seen it once. Same with the 30 second limit between posts. It's a security limit so you cannot mistakenly post or send a PM twice.

What puzzles me is that sometimes I see, while browsing the Who's online page, that guest users are sending PMs or replying to threads. Is not s'posed you have to be registered in order to reply or use the PM system?

A guest can try all they want; but it won't send/post. As for the time limit, it is there to prevent duplicates and forum flooding.

Question Sometimes when I post a thread and want to edit it at the top of the page you get a section where you have the option to delete the post, but when I try to delete a thread I post I'm told I do not have permission to do so? So why offer it if you can't use it.

If the thread has been replied to, or if a certain time has passed then you cannot delete it.

The times I have tried to delete were right after I posted it and with no replies.

I beleive only mods and admins are permitted to delete entire messages. No matter though, just scroll down and highlight the text of your message and delete that, or do what I do and leave a different message to cover your tracks.

Thanks if the mods an admins are the only one's permitted to delet a message than I think that option should not appear at all. Just a thought.

Members do not have the ability to delete posts - only mods and admins. If we removed this function from the template, then we could not do our job. You may edit your posts up to 12 hours from original posting, if you make a post in error or have second thoughts about what you have said, just edit it.

Hey Double D, I thought the same thing, too. Then I realized the format for this site wasn't created PC Mech, it's an excellent format that many forums use, designed by vBulletin as you can see at the very bottom of this page.
