A Sense of Values

Here is a little excerpt from a book i read in . I just wanted to share it with you ppl...enjoy..

Quote:
A Sense of Values
During my second year of nursing school our professor gave us a pop quiz. I breezed though the questions until I read the last one. " What is the first name of the woman who cleans our school ?".
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times, but how would i know her name?
I handed in the paper, leaving the last question blank. Before the class ended, one student asked if the last question would count towards our grade.
"Absolutely", the professor said."In your careers you will meet many poeple. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all they do is smile and say hello."
I have never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

I have heard of a story about the final exam given in either an ethics class or a religion class. It is probably apocryphal, but it still is a good story:

When the students got to the room where they expected their final to be, there was a sign on the door that told them the test had been moved, and they had to go to a building clear across campus. On the way was a beggar who asked for some money for food, and every student ignored him. When they finally arrived at the classroom, their professor was there. "So, where is the test?" the students asked when it was clear there wasn't anything on their desks and the professor wasn't making any move to hand anything out. "You already took it," the professor said. "The test was given by a friend of mine, who dressed up as a beggar and asked for your help as you walked here. Since nobody offered help, you all fail."
