XP Pro for $39.99
I found this link the other day where you can get XP Pro for $39.99 plus $8.95 shipping. Plus you get a plug of big-league chew with it.

That's interesting. Is anybody here a member of that M$ for Partners group? What is it for? Do you have to sign your soul to Bill?

is anyone going to order this?
i just signed up, and all they want is your name and stuff. 39.99 seems like a good deal for a legal copy. |

I ordered and received it 10-12 weeks ago. Only took a couple of weeks to get. WINXP Pro, some chew, bubble head doll and baseball. I thought the offer ended at end of July. Haven't loaded it yet, but just couldn't pass up XP Pro for that price. I figure that if nothing else I can sell it for $80.00 and keep the goodies.

Why is it asking for a business email address? I don't have one. What did you guys do? Thats an excellent price and would like to get one.

Just as advice, not to brag or stick it to anyone, but, if you are looking to save, the academic rates are always a bargain. I always get my software from the local college bookstore anymore. In my current area the college has XP Pro for $10. Just need to find a student who wants to earn $5; should not be a challenge. :)

I used my personal email and it worked fine. When I got to the point of my employer it did not recognize the name so I had to create my company profile and take a guess at many of the questions. But it took it and now I have mine coming in 6-8 as well.

It didn't take me long to get mine. My wife got hers even faster. Can't remember how long the kid's copies took...LOL.
I posted this several months ago and again when Lawyer Ron was building his CAD workstation. You guys didn't get in on it then? I think they extended it to get rid of all the copies of non SP1 XP Pro. And maybe to get a little extra business out of us tightwads. |

I've been a partner not for a couple of years, the best deal I got was a Free copy of XP.
. M$ gave it to me at the XP system builder roadshow. Sweet. I always jump on these promos when they come up, Great way to get cheap personal copies. Just remember, the EULA for these copies is not transferrable. Also, dont be supprised if M$ call you to survey your company on it's production. I get a call once a year at renewal time to see how many copies of the OS I have sold for the year etc...

The first one I ordered was very easy. Probably a month later after about 50 emails continuing to make the same offer I ordered again and I had to fill out way more stuff. The link PardeGT posted looks right to me. They sent me a confirmation email that had a link in it. Then they sent me a shipping confirmation and another when it shipped.
It's a pretty damn good deal in that it is not an upgrade but the full retail version.Wish I would have known about about when I bought my first copies last October for retail prices. |

Limit one per student, tho, so I can't hook anyone else up. Anyone at any University of Wisconsin can get great deals through: http://wiscweb5.wisc.edu/wisc/ Not that that link's very useful to you guys, but you can drool and wish you were in college here!

My info is from the Univ. of California at Stanislaus and U.C. of Sacramento. My oldest is in the masters program an Stanislaus and my daughter-in-law is an instructor at Sac. I asked them both to check. Carl |

The junior college bookstore here doesn't even carry software. I do get MSDN academic OS's and software for lab and personal use only. I believe a small part of my tuition goes to pay for the academic licenses.
