notebook OEMs..
I understand the myriad of notebooks are manufactured byb 4-5 OEM factories in the far East..
Does anyone know which factory makes which notebbok (ie--who makes DEll, Compaq, Toshiba, IBM etc?)? thanx.. |

Lower end IBM's are made by Acer. Dell I believe is made by Compal, as is Chembook. Other OEM's I know of are Chicony and Twinhead.

Dell is actually using three different makers. I couldn't tell you who they are. This was accurate as of about six months ago.

I knew about IBM>ACCER as I use an old IBM PII/233..works great w/Win98SE!..except I changed the moinitor (Compaq to SONY) for a test and now the box hangs on the "ok to shut down ur computer" screen on shutdown?? (approriate monitor drives were changed as needed-)..
