How to get removed from junk list

A few months ago my wife was looking for a job and spent some time searching on the internet. I still can't figure out why, but for some reason she gave our email address to some web site asking for more information about some kind of job opportunity. Well, that web site has been selling our email address to every scam artist in america for the past few months. what was once my nice, personal email address has become a destination for 2-4 spam emails every day. All "make $1,000 a day from home!" type stuff. I have had myself deleted from the list for every email that we've gotten, but there seems to be no end to the new lists.

so my questions are: is my email address now permanently hijacked? Is there any way I can quit receiving this junk? Is what they are doing legal? It really makes me mad that they have done this to my email address and left me so powerless to do anything about it.

Let my experience be a lesson to you all. Never share an email address with your wife. I know I won't again.

Hi Reedimus,

I had the same problem and I didn't want to change my email. I downloaded mailwahser and after a couple of weeks of bouncing emails the number of spam emails has been greatly reduced. I would reccomend it.

You can get a program like mailwasher. But I just wish I had the time to travel around the country and put an ass whuppin on each of the spammers.
I think that with the way things are going the domestic spammer's days are numbered.

2-4 a day???? Try over 30 a day to my old Michigan State account. I'm supposed to be 'hidden' on their directory -- even have a copy of the paperwork to prove it. But if you got to www.msu.edu and search for me, you'd find me (and my wife who's not even a student there any longer -- at least I'm an alumni). So SPAMMERS can use a simple php script and get the entire directory and sue it as they please.

My mailwasher blacklist has over 300 filters in it -- sheesh.

BIG no-no

NEVER reply to spams messages or join their op-out lists, just shows its a real-checked email and they tell all their little friends
