"Mister" Rogers dies

Geez, all my kids grew up watching him. I used to snicker at him but they loved him. I grew to like him the more I watched, though.

He was a gentle value-oriented human being and will be missed. I watched him as a kid and I wish my kids would have watched him instead of Barney and Teletubbies.

I grew up with Mr Rogers and will deeply miss him. His opening song asked us to be his neighbor, I would have liked him to ben my neighbor.

God bless and rest in peace Mr Rogers

At first I thought I would write that today will be a sad day. Then I realized that remembering him will make it "a beautiful day in the neighborhood."

I grew up with Mister Rogers and about 10 years ago I read a biography about him. The biography said that while offset he would (even though he was an ordained minister) tell a dirty joke or two for shock value to see what people's reaction woud be. It nice to know that there are some people on this earth that know that being human is actually letting other people know that your human.

Right in the center of our town here the little park is named rogers memorial park, and has a round fountain with a memorial to him as this was his birthplace. Growing up as an only child, I really did like that show and he made me feel less lonely, and I really looked forward to each morning with him...

I heard barney was a crack addict.

Not being all that old myself, I used to watch Mr.Rogers back in the day. The trollie and the castle with the puppets was my favorite part. He will be missed. :'(

That's too bad. Like many people here, I grew up watching him, as well as Sesame Street, Electric Company, 3-2-1 Contact, and so on. Those were really good shows for children that actually taught kids, as opposed to the myriad crappy shows some parents use to raise their kids today.

I think thats one of the things that as a child you could always count on him to be there and the steadfastness, the routine things that he always did, like the shoes, the sweater, the fish, so that for a child like myself that didn't grow up in such a secure stable environment I suppose I really admired that about the show, perhaps even subcousciously...

Mr. Rogers was cool.

My kids can't get over that I used to watch Morgan Freeman on the Electric Company, and that he had an Afro!

TELETUBBIES REALLY MUST DIE.

I used to watch his show all the time too. That and Sesame Street. My favorite part was always the trolley. I think he coulda just sat there on the couch and ran the trolley back and forth for the whole 30 minutes of the show and I'da been happy. Sad to see him go.

Teletubbies are just about the most annoying show I've seen in my entire life. I can handle Barney. At least the people on Barney speak good so kids can learn how to speak correctly instead of listening to that Teletubbies "baby talk."

One of my favorite shows growing up was Electric Company and I remember Morgan Freeman being on that. I still think about that everytime I see him in a movie. My favorite on there was Spiderman. I loved the shows that he was on.

There was another hero on there. Can somebody tell me his name. I just vaguely remember letters and he did stuff with letters. Was it Letterman?

He will be missed greatly by us that grew up watching him. Mr. Rogers was one of the few positive role models on t.v.

He was on for years...

He's almost a legend...

I used to watch him when I was a little kid.

Fred Rogers was a great man.
I would still find myself flipping through the channels and stopping on his show.I always liked the videos he would show of the different factories. He would go in and show how eveything worked and talk to the employees and such.My youngest daughter got her picture taken with Mr. Mcfeely(speedy delivery guy).We all thought that was cool
Mr. Rogers will be greatly missed.

While I did'nt grow up with him(came to the US about 10 years ago)he will be missedmy kids liked him alot when they were little because my husband was in the military at the time we moved alot and things sometimes where a little unstable and stuff and I'd like to think that he gave him a little stbility when they watched him when he fed the fish chnged shoes and sweater even I felt there was something oddly reassuring about him.

My Oldest son 8, while not really interested in the show as whole anymore will still watch those clips of factories and how stuff is made, heck I even find those really interesting.. I think it was his dad who worked in a factory here that caused Mr. Rogers to feel that was an important thing to include in his shows..I did read a story with abit of his backround and upbringing that explains a lot about what led him from becoming an ordained minister and pursuing the show as a career instead of a full time pastorship. Even when we go on vacation, I'll keep my eye out for any factory tours to take my kids to, I think sometimes that is their favorite part and usually costs nothing but maybe spending a few bucks in the factory store at the end. We just got KrispyKreme doughnut store locally here, and I think my kids could spend all day just watching the doughnuts being made...

I remember watching him when I was little. I don't remember it very well at all, but I do remember the trolly and the puppets slightly.

Ah, ktkendall, I should come over to see your memorial before I leave Pennsylvania. The weather is horrible, but the state has its redeeming qualities. ;) I was around WQED while they were filming some of the tributes. So, if you see a clip with a crazy person waving at the camera (provided they did not cut me out as they are prone to do), that is me.

I always wanted to knock on his door just to say hello, but ironically enough, I never knew if he was as inviting towards guests in reality. Alas, our time is never long enough. May he find comfort in the fact he touched more lives for the better and came closer to accomplishing what set out to do more than most.

Respectfully,

Demosthenes
