And the price of gas these days!

Ok, let's do a quick roll call of the gas prices in your part of the country. Ours rose quite a bit and I thought it was the same all over the country until a friend of mine drove from NY to Vegas and mentioned a lot of lower prices. Now I'm curious. So, cough em up!
What's the price of Regular in you area?
Las Vegas, NV $2.02

$1.46 in central IL for 87 octane, a dime for each upgrade. It's dropped $.20 since last week.

Ok... I do the conversion for you... a week ago we were $2.23USD per US Gallon (86.9 cents CDN per litre). Today, it's running for $2.05USD per US Gallon (79.9 cents CDN per litre). We have a little gas war thing every Wednesdays, so that's when I fill up and last Wednesday I bought for $1.95USD per US Gallon (75.9 cents CDN per litre). Right now, the trend seems to be dropping the price, so hopefully next Wednesday will be even cheaper.

Yesterday paid $1.39 for regular unleaded @ Sam's Club. Average price for regular at other places $1.54. Gotta love that Sam fellow.

$2.11 here in California, for the cheap stuff. It went down .01 this week, despite the drop in oil prices by $12 a barrel. Go big oil!

That, and Cali has some screwed up new blend of gas that costs more. I think I should move.

$2.09, but you have to remember that gasoline in California is unique because of state mandates on the formula and then add to the fact that the idiots that run this state gave in to the MTBE scare and ordered it replaced with ethanol. This is not only more expensive compared to MTBE, but it is also more costly to blend it in.

Morris: How come we have had mandated ethanol here for 15 years and we are paying $1.64? Your state finally did something sensible - MTBE is nasty stuff, we banned it years ago. Maybe your farmers should start planting more corn.

That's what I paid this morning at BP Amoco for 87.

GLC, It is just not the additive. California is the only state that has a State formula and not just a regional formula. For instance the gasoling that is sold in Arizona and Nevada does not meet California Air Resources Board Standards and cannot be sold here. Basically it is BS to let contributors and the state to make more money off the general public.

Morris - we here in the Chicago area have "boutique" fuel too. You are far from being the only one to have a mandated special formula. There are only 4 refineries certified to produce fuel for the greater Chicago metro area (which encompasses parts of 3 states) and when one goes down, our prices jump like crazy, they can't legally truck extra fuel in from St. Louis to compensate.

olala what prices !!!!

Germany, average price, € and US-$ are about 1:1

normal (91 octane): 1,07 € per LITRE
super (95 octane): 1,10 € per l
super plus (98 octane): 1,17 € per l

1 US-Gallon = 3,785 l

=> that'd be:
normal 4,05 € per US-Gallon
super: 4,16 € per US-Gallon
super+: 4,43 € per US-Gallon

Even Diesel is now between 90 ct and 1 € per litre (3,41 to 3,79 € per US-Gallon)

RJ: Do you have a breakdown as to how much of that is taxes? I think out of the $1.64 I mentioned, somewhere around $0.50 to $0.60 is taxes. There is a $0.184 federal tax rate, an Illinois state $0.19 tax, the rest are local (county and city) taxes and 6.5% sales tax.

GLC: Although it is only $0.184 in Federal tax on the gallon of gas, in reality it is a lot more thanks to that great american President Jimmy Carter who introduced not only the Windfall Profits tax on oil, but also forced the oil companies to make production, refining, and marketing into individual and TAXABLE parts.
Evidently Carter was a great admirier of the European system of over-taxing any product but doing it in ways that hides the real amount of taxes.

I don't really know how much is taxes, but I know that it's much, could be the half or even a bit more but I'm not 100% sure.
Especially since the start of the "eco tax" prices rised like hell
