Cool Dns Server Problem

I thought I would share an experience with you all. I finished my first build, and all went off without a hitch. I went to update windows xp, and I kept getting kicked back to the update window. I received a message, "No updates have been installed."

I called windows support and spoke to two tech reps. The first could not help me, and said I had to contact the modem manufacturer because it must be the modem. I spoke with the modem people, and they told me to download the latest driver. I could not download the driver from their site either. I had to use my old computer to download the driver, then transfer it to new one. Update driver, still didn't work. Keep in mind first tech had me format and reinstall windows once.

I called windows again. did another fresh install, still no fix. I told him I was having problems not only with updating windows, but with another site. I thought it had to be problem with exlporer. I was on the phone with tech for over an hour, and he was at his end, when he asked me to try a site that would allow me to download windows update long way. I could not get to site. He had me put in number address for site, and it worked.

I finally did a ping test, and found out it was not the computer the whole time it was my DNS server. WOW! all that and not the computer.

If anyone ever has same problem check dns first
