windows critical update
I recently updated my updates lol... and I still continue to receive a critical update notification something like 3 times a day.
Two problems: -when I click scan, nothing happens and it sits at 0% forever...so I end up closing the browser. Why is it not scanning? It used to. -why the heck do I get at least 3 notifications a day? This thing became a royal pain in the butt. (So since I'm using win98se I went to add/remove programs and removed this feature.) But again why would I receive so many notices??? thaks in advance Richard |

Instead of using the windows update, try going to the MS website and downloading updates directly off of the site.

My comp does the same thing when I try to use the windows update function. That's why I just manually download the updates. Plus, I know exactly what updates that are going on my comp (ie, MS doesn't get to stick me with alpha or beta updates unless I download them purposely).

Try reverting back to IE 5.x - I've seen some pretty strange stuff happen with IE6 on Win98.
