Thumbs up New User Title System OR Old ?

Has anyone done this yet? I didn't look too closely...

What do you think? I kinda liked the degrees. I was looking forward to some day being a second year undergrad (it was going to take me a calendar year to reach it!).

Sound off people.

i think it just got sort of confusing... being a second year member when someone has been "enrolled" for 3 months is a little weird.

A computer site needs computer jargon. I like the new system. The only thing I might do is change the 4 bit level to nibble.

I was thinking that too, but we already have a byte here, and too many people might get confused!

I view PCMech as a learning environment. I don't post a great deal (I have nowhere near the expertise of the majority of members who do post), but I read tons of posts and try to pick up what info I can.

So, I guess the University-style schools of thought appealed to me, as did the college degree earning levels for users.

Am I the only sad sap that even gave this any thought??

can members still come up with catchy titles to put above their custom avatars when they get them? Or does the bit system preempt this option?

Once you hit 1024 posts you have free reign over your title and avatar so long as it's acceptable for public viewing. If a moderator finds a title or avatar they find offensive it will be discussed and probably corrected.
