cable TV question

I was wondering at what point I can complain to my cable TV provider about 1 channel on my TV.

Ok, I have very good Internet. Over all TV service is good.

However 1 channel I watch it fuzzy. My Channel 98, which is my UPN channel that I watch enterprise on.

Will or Can a Cable company do anything about 1 channel? They way it looks, reminds me of back in the Day when we had the very large Dishes in the backyard for Satlite TV and you didn't have it turned just right for the channels on a certain Satilite.

Have you tried messing with your cablie wire? On my tv I have a similar problem...when I want to watch comedy central, its blurry, and all other channels are clear...so I manuever the wires around a little and then alll channels are fuzzy except comedy central...its a perfect example of life itself

yea i have tried, I have 3 outlets for the cable, one is directly to my PC and just 2 months ago, they run a line down the pole drilled a hole by my PC and put it in the wall. brand new able and even that one is like that. I know it is a dirty signal and I guess I should check but I bet my neighbors is the same.

Call your cable company to come out check it out. I had the same sort of thing with my cable tv. They will use an RF detector to look for stray RF at junction boxes, connectors,etc. They have found incorrect or old terminations in the junction box and corroded connections/ these will make certain channels fuzzy looking.

like I said, it is only 1 channel out of about 60 and it is new wire from the pole down, so i am sure it is on their side.

What about the tuner in your tv, it could be causing the problem. Otherwise just phone up the cable company and complain you might not get the response you want but it never hurts to just give it a try.

The upper range channels on the cable require more power to reach you, if there is a weak amplifier on the line to your house, that could be a culprit, also check your splitters in your house if there are any, ports often blow on them,

Well I noticed, day time when the channel in question is a different Feed it is a good picture. Channel 98. However of the evening when they change the feed it gets bad. By 8pm when the channel is UPN it is of a quality that is barely watchable in my opinioin, yes it is better then antena but not what one should be happy with with cable.

My Cable company has told me the problem is not in there system, they pass the blame on to UPN.

I find that hard to believe since UPN plays good on dish or Direct TV systems. It seems that my cable company is unable to get a good signal on it, I personally think they just need to adjust their DISH that they recieve the signal on, I am going to try and capture a few screen shots of the Channel with my capture Card so I can show what I am talking about.

do you have more than one set in your house, if so is that one channel bad on them also.

1 TV always connected and 1 PC with a turner card.
1 TV in bed room not normally connected to cable.

Ok, 4 months ago new wire was run from pole to my home when I connected.

The I have run a new cable wire from outside with the rest of the home disconnected and tested, I get the same picture. But I know it is coming that way from comcast because they told me they know about that channel playing bad, but they blame it on UPN, saying it is a poor signal.

When I left the cable company, they gave the impression that UPN needs to be contacted about the poor signal. Maybe I will try since I don't believe the problem is with UPN, but comcast in my area blames UPN.

I have a couple of channels that aren't as clear as the rest with Insight cable. I seldom ever watch them and always assumed it was the parent of the bad channels since all the channels used the same cable coming in and only those couple were bad. They aren't that bad, kinda like light snow or mist, not as clear as rest.

I too had some bad channels , I got a better cable end crimper (actually a cable compression fitting tool) and replaced all the ends in the house . It cured all of my poor reception problems. Not a cheap fix though the tool was 65.00 and the ends are a buck apiece. But I use it in my work too.

I have checked, everyone I know has a low quality picture on my UPN on my local comcast.

Also, i had just recently replaced all the cable ends in my home. I know UPN puts a good signal out bacause my parents get a good picture on UPN, I honestly believe they just need to adjust the angle of their reciever
