Ringtones vs battery life
Could deleting ringtones in a cell phone increase its battery life?

I doubt it. The question to ask is why would it make a difference?

Big battery suckers on cell phones are vibrate option and dropping in and out of coverage. Ring tones are the same draw as regular rings so that should not make a big difference.

I reasoned that more ringtones retained in memory would require more battery power. I wondered if keeping 1 to 2 ringtones on hand or cramming as many ringtones as could fit would effect battery life. My gut reaction was that it probably made little to no difference. But I posed the question anyway just in case it did.
The motive to my madness is that I've been dabbling in creating ringtones. So it's quite possible I'll be maxing out the allowable number. |

it takes the same amount of power to energize a memory simm when it is full as it does when its not.

It won't effect the battery life. It just fills up your memory, like you suspected.
Check out www.howardforums.com for an amazing amount of info on cellphones, ringers, and vendors. |

Thanks mbossman2, that puts things in perspective.
And thanks Mr N8 for the URL. I've got it bookmarked. |
