Hey folks, I was thinking that since everyone is gonna be ordering new parts this time of year, we might get together a list of good and more imporantly bad resellers.

It comes to mind since the scheisters at the Overclockerz Store (resellerratings.com score set to zero for false reviews, banned from Anandtech forum for spam) have been out in force posting false plugs and reviews on HardOCP's boards. The latest being a claim that they have "PC170" RAM, which turns out to be CAS2 Crucial with nothing more added except a markup of about 50%.

I've also had bad dealings with and would avoid Tufshop and Icompz.com.

Anyone else?

I have dealt with Icompz.com I had a minor problem with them..

I got a defective MB, it even had a label that they had tested it and it was defective...The replaced it very fast and they paid the shipping....Maybe because I had proof that they messed up....I don't know...
I think it was one they had meant to send back but it got shipped to me instead by mistake...

But that is where I got my T-bird and MB. Still running fine...

On the good note...I have NEVER had a problem dealing with
http://www.egghead.com i just this week brought Ram and a Hard drive from there...I am using them right now....

So Icompz.com is a maybe......I would consider buying from again, because they are close to me.

Egghead.com I really like......

Hey X,
Related to this topic is how a lot of these jokers do business. A lot of them don't stock the parts they advertise and order the part when you order it. A friend of mine ordered the new HP Joronada (SP?)palm top, about $800, and needed it shipped Next Day Air. All 3 said they could ship it the next day and all 3 failed to perform on that promise. They gave excuses like, "oh, sorry, we didn't get those in".... He canceled with all 3 and finally found a local dealer that could order it and he could pick it up the next day. If they don't have it in stock, don't order it!!

A lot of online resellers stock absolutely nothing. They have product dropshipped from a major wholesale-only distributor such as Ingram Micro, Tech Data, or Merisel. If these distributors are back ordered on something, you are SOL and the reseller has no way of telling you when it will be in.

I recently placed a order with econopc.com. As far as I know
they shipped it out promptly, but when ups lost my order they did not place my trace as they said they would.

What good is a resseller if they will not provide service after they have your hard earned money?

Onvia.com used to say that if you ordered by 2pm they would ship the same day. Now they are saying that it may take 1-5 days to make shipment of in-stock items. Is the Christmas rush that bad?

Onvia has no inventory. Everything is dropshipped from Ingram Micro and Tech Data.

accessmicro.com ... wanted to charge $33.00 for shipment of one stick of memory to Hawaii (USPS priority mail is about 3 bucks and UPS about $10). When I sent them an email to complain, they spammed me by adding to their list of weekly 'specials' ... which I promptly auto-forwarded back to their shipping dept. I fugure if they get anough of these things they will eventually get the message.

Access is known for their excessive shipping but if you can't make money one place you make it another. I still buy some stuff from them, I just hate that shipping charge, grrrr!

Since shipping is nonrefundable they are moving their profit into it. If they have to refund anyone's money they still profit from the transaction. In fact, they could deliberately ship known defective merchandise and still make a profit. That's why everyone should refuse to do business with a company that charges excessive shipping.
