A question or two about FedEX
Which is better, FedEX or UPS? Does FedEX ship on Saturdays? I looked on their site and it just says business days. But 50% of all people think Saturday is a business day and 50% seem to think that it is not. Is Saturday a Business day?'
I am stumped.

I doubt Saturdays are business days, and I've never had a problem with either service....

FedEx does not ship on saturdays.
As for fedex vs. UPS... Fedex has the edge in delivering in the morning. However, UPS always comes quicker for me, but that's because the stores I order only from that ship UPS all seem to be east coast. Oh well, to me as long as I get my package in working order in the time i paid for (or didn't pay for) I'm fine. |

I've never heard of Saturday being a business day. Saturday and Sunday are the weekend, and Monday thru Friday are business days.
As for which is better, I get good service out of each. Fedex seems to be a little quicker around here for some reason but they both deliver the packages in good condition usually. I guess its all whether you want your package delivered in a little white van or the big brown truck.

I prefer to pay more for FedEx.
I don't count Saturday as a business day. I have been burned too many times by UPS. I am sick of having their web page stating a delivery day and 3 days later no attempt, asking if I could go to the Hub and pick it up and being told only if their was a failed delivery attempt. I have had UPS drop off my packages at country stores and not bring them to my home, I refused to go get it and called the shipper and complained that I had not got my shipments before. These bad experiences I have had with UPS have went on from the time I was about 10-12 year old up though my early 20s. So it would take allot to every change my opinions about UPS. They are too deeply rooted in me.

I deal with both, but prefer FedEx, they usually deliver my parts 1-2 days earlier than the delivery date and haven't yet lost a package. UPS on the other hand has lost, shipped back and been late on more than one occasion, tho I must admit, it's not often.

I've been shipping and receiving packages with both companies for many years. Fed Ex used to handle bigger items than ups until a few years ago. However, UPS does a lousy job on anything over 50 pounds. Neither counts Saturday as a business day, but both will deliver on Saturday if the shipper specifies "Sat Delivery" (and spends more money). Fed Ex makes no time of delivery garantee that I know of, while UPS offers regular delivery, AM delivery (before 10:30am) and Early am delivery (by 8am) The faster you want it the more you pay. And the shipper has to specify ahead of time. Personally, I like UPS better. I live in a suburban area and they just leave the packages on the front porch. Never had a problem in the 4 years I've lived here.

I have been working with both for a long time, I used to swear by UPS in New Hampshire as they always got the item there. Fedex was a little wishy washy about it, and Airborne actually used to tip packages in the ditch if they couldn't find it. Now that I am living in the suburbs, its far easier to get packages, but its Fedex now for me. They deliver slightly eariler, about 2-3:00pm instead of 4 for UPS.

FedEx's Air Service is better than UPS. FedEx's ground service is not as good as UPS. They both do good jobs shipping, it just seems that UPS mangles boxes a little more. Plus I live in FedEx's hometown so I am not allowed to speak bad of them.

Fedex Ground is the old RPS (Roadway). They are terrible. If you only want to pay for ground, use UPS. Fedex Saver is the best overall deal out there.

agree with glc, for ground, UPS is betterfor ground (but it is all dependant on the driver and the location, there are areas that they have issues delivering, usuallu more rural areas), but FedEx rocks for overnite delivery.

Re: A question or two about FedEX

Besides myself, I know several people that also continually go thru this with them, and they (fedex) often uses the same, lame excuse: Quote:
Hello FedEx how can I help you? Hi, where's my package I took the day off to stay home to recieve. It's two weeks late now. Sorry sir, but we have an invalid address and have been waiting for you to contact us. Oh? what address do you have? They give the correct address. Well... that's my address. Sorry sir, it can't be your address, it doesn't exist. Then how do I live here and get my mail and packages from UPS? Sir, our driver has been on that route for over 8 years and there is no such address. 8 years? then he has delivered to me at this address many times in that time period. Sorry sir, maybe they changed the road signs and you're not aware of it. How can I not know where I live?Sorry sir, but your address is wrong. Does your driver of 8 years on this route have a cell phone? Yes sir. Tell him to call me when he is in the area. Sir, I don't think that will work, as your address is invalid. Just have him call me, OK?? Yes sir. Then the driver calls and I go thru it all again, and have to give him step by step instructions to get to my place. This has happened several times. Where I am(middle of nowhere - SW Kansas) UPS is the better choice. Fedex has another shipper -"ariborne express" that they use after a certain point. As soon as the package is handed over to airborne express(just about everytime) you can expect at least another day or two... UPS however does deliever on time, and in good condition here.

best delivery srvc
being I do my buisness mostly with new egg i have my packages shipped by fedex but they like to play my old employers tricks likeholding my pcks for 3 days in NewOrleans because they got there early. In the USPS that delay is called staging just a way of cutting overtime hours down not showing the customer how quick service really was. The problem with fedex delays is that is seeable and shows up when you check on your shipmeny. With P.O you never now unless you have worked for them. All in all fed Ex gets my vote

One time UPS couldnt find my house so they decided to deliver it to a random house down the street from me. Luckily they were nice people and called me to tell me they had my package. That is the kind of thing that really turns me off about UPS.

Earlier, I posted that Fedex didn't del on Sat, but I stand corrected. Noticed a Fedex truck across the street at my neighbor's day before yesterday. Had a del from them myself today, too and I happened to be home. When ups del's, they just leave it on the porch, but I asked the Fedex guy if he would and he said "no". Somebody has to sign for it. Yuk!

glc is right; I there is a BIG difference between FedEX Air and FedEx ground. FedEx ground drivers are NOT employees of FedEx. I know such a fellow. They are all independent contractors, own and maintain their own trucks, no benefits whatsoever. Many are the old RPS drivers. FedEx Air is excellent, FedEx ground can be hit and miss.
