The RIAA has a new head honcho...

Quote:
The Recording Industry Association of America has tapped a former Republican Senate staffer to replace Hilary Rosen as chief executive, firming up the group's leadership during one of the most controversial moments in its history. The big record labels' trade group said Monday that Mitch Bainwol, former chief of staff to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, will replace Rosen at the RIAA's helm.

Nope. Until the RIAA has a complete tear down and rebuild, it will still be stupid.

My prediction - This guys try's to be all "Mr.Affirmative Action" or "Enforcer", he soaks up all the money from the record labels, uses this as a curve for politcal spotlight, then tries to run for president sometime in the near future.

Whats funny is, the biggest chunk of filesharers are about 14 to 23, the younger being the most likely, so when/if this guys runs for presidency, all the people he was trying to throw into jail and hassle, will just about be old enough to vote...against him...

So, he wants so sue every american who could be sharing as little as $1000 (50 CDs) worth of copyrighted material, there is going to be a price for finding these individuals, he is practically breaking into filesharing networks, lawsuits against IPs, I don't think this will be a very llucrative business...

If Sony records decides to sue me, that isn't really going to influence me to buy CDs from them. What could the RIAA possibly expect as the outcome of all this?

If their CEO thinks he can run for president, I'm not sure "acting before thinking" will earn him many votes.

hehe
that's the RIAA new marketing plan
They wont make $ selling music, so they will just sue people to get $
Now they can just sit back and collect, and keep putting out trash music...
