Hello, i'm new to the board. I would like to know i know its better to be good at both networking and A+ but should you do what your more comfortable in even though another job pays more. Networking pays more then A+ but i'm more comfortable with A+. What should i do. I will be taking the microsoft exams next year. I also have 2001 comptia book and there changing the exams to 2003 exams should i update the book to 2003 or should leave it because nothing prob changed much?

I would recommend getting both certs, it will be good on your resume, in life, it is always best to do what your the happyest doing, money isn't always happyness.
actually thoes two certs are just the starting point, the basics required to get started in the field, you can still do whatever makes you happy. yes the test will be updated in december I belive, so a new book and study guides would be recommended, Last edited by bailey; 10-15-2003 at 10:02 PM. |

November that test will be updated i read on comptia. Ya i plan on first doing it step by step. First i'll do network+ certificate then A+ or the other way. Then i'll do mcse exams which for networking 2000 server i think its 3 or 4 exams. For the new books not sure if i should get them yet i'll have to ask around and make sure because i dont think there will be a big difference but thats what i need to ask. I dont plan on taking these test until i'm done with my internship in feb. I start from dec until feb. Now i'm just reviewing my school books..... Do you know if there any hard network + or A+ comptia exams?

I just checked on microsoft site it seems mcse exams changed and also seems it will be the ultimate challenge to take that exam which now seems like its 7 exams. Compared to comptia A+ and network + its easier to pass when i start reading those 2 books back for both those coarses. SHOULD I REALLY WAIT TO TAKE THE MCSE EXAMS UNTIL ATLEAST I HAVE 1 YEAR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD ? BECAUSE THATS WHAT MICROSOFT SAYS. BY THEN I'LL NEED TO BUY NEW BOOKS TO STUDY FOR IT....
