Thanks for the heads up! Downloaded it and am loving every second of this program. This is going to be my new weakness...I've already bought like ten songs and just downloaded it two minutes ago.

Be sure to turn on sharing. Zero Conf based streaming. Put files on 1 PC only and stream them to any other LAN PC with no configuration necessary. I kicks the booty.

Wow...talk about f'ning up my system. Installed the software, re-booted per instructions...BONK! Upon re-boot error message after error message about files in folder _____ could not be saved, try saving them in a different location.

After four attempts at re-booting, I hit F8 and selected last known working configuration. System booted fine. Tried to use iTunes and it seems there is something with their CD burning software that does not agree with my system. iTunes in and of itself works, but I cannot burn any CDs nor can I export to either of my mp3 players.

Guess I'll have to sell those and buy an iPod. Darn....

Well thus far I must say that I am disappointed with iTunes. So far no Bella Fleck and the Flecktones, no Dave Matthews Band, no Big Daddy Weave, no Chris Thile...Goodness.

Well like all new things, it does take a bit of time. Try sticking with MusicMatch or something like that until iTunes adds some more music. The only thing I hated about MusicMatch was all the restrictions they placed on you if you used the basic version instead of the Pro version. I mean, limited to 2X burning?? come on.

I love it. I have it on all 3 of my computers, and I'm sharing my files from my main rig. Very nice.

It even took care of my bad ripping skills, and made all of my songs the same volume for me.

I've had not problems with the software, but as Sonic says, the iTunes store isn't necessarily the greatest. In time they will have a better selection. The selection is very good for popular music, but I'm sure there are some contract things to deal with, when it comes to groups as big as DMB.

Anyone else having a problem with sharing music? I've got like a gig of music on my main pc and its set to share it all, but my other pc doesn't seem to see it at all. I've enabled sharing in itunes for both. Am I just not looking in the right place?

I'm really liking this iTunes setup. I like the fact that there is no monthly fees. So far I'm pretty darn happy!

Nope, that should be fine. If you had a local firewall such as Zone Alarm it may cause issues. Am I to understand you can see some of the music?. Are the ones you can't see in a different format ie. WMA?. I don't think i tunes supports that "other" format. Also, are all the files in one directory?, iTunes only sees 1 directory as it's home and all the folders in that directory...

Well when I initially set up iTunes I imported all my music...pretty much all mp3 format and enabled sharing and everything. I take it importing them would place them in the correct directory, but maybe not? I did the same on my other computer which only had a couple of files on it already but I imported them anyway. I can only see the music that is stored locally on each computer's HDD and can't see any of the shared files.

I dont like winamp at all...
I like the way you can set the eq for each song individually and it remembers the setting...
Lots of good features...

It comes with the Fraunhofer IIS mp3 codec. Fraunhofer developed the MPEG layer 3 and their codec is far and away the best available. Most people have either the Windows default codec from Microsoft or the lame codec - both pale in comparison.

no wonderr...because i went to the Apple store last weekend and i was trying out the speakers that they set up, JBL Creature, Inspire, etc. and they sounded more crisp then the songs coming from the POS winamp but all is good now, i hope they keep updating and fix the bugs for iTunes...because i noticed:
-once in awhile the right would be louder and i would have to go to my TBSC Control center and re adjust it, this happens when i randomly select songs and switch manually...other wise when i let it play by itself its ok.
-i also noticed that once in awhile sound would skip when i open internet explorer or connect to the internet, but then again this was the same issue with earlier Winamp.

but im satisfied, i dont think ill ever use winamp to play my music ever again.

Surge, so you have sharing enabled but cannot see any other PC's music library. I'm guessing file sharing on your network works and all PC's see each other in Network Places. iTunes uses Zero Conf to broadcast the availability of services, it would seem that they are either not broadcasting or no receiving. If you have Windows XP, chect to see if the built in firewall is blocking it. I guess you could have ports blocked on your router, but that shouldnt effect internal traffic. I would double check all my network settings, maybe assign static LAN IP's to each and go from there.

Thanks for that tip. I hadn't found that feature, yet.

I've had it since the 16th, and I've already decided that WMP and Winamp are history.
