smokin iPod question

according to apple's website, you can use your ipod in 'disk mode' to store anything on the hard drive... basically as an external hard drive. does anyone know if this is only on the newest 'third generation' models, or if you can do this on older ones?

I know you can do it on the 2nd gen, also. I'm not sure about the first gen, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.
