Good news first. David just sent me an eMail you all should love. Go ahead and feel free to send a big wet sloppy cyber kiss to him. Go for it Here

Here is an edited E-mail from eFront, by way of David:
Quote:
There have been a lot of false rumors and worrying flying around about eFront as of late, including what's going on with site hosting. I have talked with many of your personally and want to clear up any and all questions with regards to a very positive step we will be (us, eFront, etc.) taking to improve hosting and technical support for you guys.

With that said, I am happy to send word that we have finished establishing our new network here on the west coast in Los Angeles with our new partner Space4Rent (S4R). Your website will be moved over this new facility within the next week (hopefully by Saturday). S4R will be handling our managed services in LA including all tech support, hardware, network, and software issues - giving myself and the other guys a chance to get a good nights rest for once

Now, I'm sure the question you are all asking is what this has to do with you specifically. Well, hopefully not much as the change will be very transparent with no planned downtime of your site. But there are a few
things you need to know:
- The new network will be securely firewalled. Your IP will change, however DNS propogation will be quick and painless so no downtime is planned.
- Will be recontacted within the next three days

A few details of the new location:

- Servers will be located in the Colo.com facility in Los Angeles (Bank of America Distribution Building)
- Bandwidth will be on Level3 and Genuity fibre (for you tech savvy peeps - further information such as diagrams, router model numbers, etc.
- California is having power problems, however the Bank of America building has a total of 6 backup generators and was a major energy provider during the Northridge Earthquake. The facility contains over a billion dollars cash, it will never lose power.

For those of you still having doubts, let me reiterate: we are doing this for YOU. The fairly minor hassle of this move means:

- Your Website will be faster
- Your Website will not crash
- You will have 24/7 technical support via phone/e-mail/etc
- Your Website will be secure
- Your Website will not run out of disk space
- Your Website will have daily/weekly backups
- Your Website will be faster (did I say that already?)

I guess what I'm trying to get across is that even in this crunch time we are not forgetting the most important part of eFront, our websites and webmasters. I know I am extremely excited about the move (even on very little sleep) and hope you are now as well.
The Bad News: There is a slight possibility that we're going to be involved with the rolling black-outs, but it's highly unlikely.

T minus Seven Days or Less!!!

Sounds good to me Dok. I live about 45 minutes away from that Bank of America building.

But knowing the Internet, your IP packets will be routed to Boston, then back...
