Power Intverters
What do I need to run an Xbox and a 13in. TV in my car? Would it be safe to use a power inverter without damaging anything? WouldTHIS one work? I am worried about bad sine modulation and wattage. Any advice?

Well I can run a 27" TV, Klipsch 2.1 speakers and a small fridge on my 750W inverter at football games. But as far as I'm concerned, the more power the better so I'm getting a 1000W inverter for next season - you never know what we might add.
A 13 inch TV will need roughly 150W to get the tube going, but around 70-80 to keep it running. The Xbox - I'm not sure, but my guess would be as high as 200W since it's basically a P4 computer. I'd get something with more juice - jsut in case. Dave.

What about the cleanliness of the power? I heard some cheap inverters can damage electronics.

Can't answer that question. I've used a MaXX unit for some time now, and the new one I buy will also be from MaXX. But if you're concerned, Google it.

the power is fine fow computers and tv's
it is not a scine waveform, but in-fact is a stepted wave form which will be seen as a standard ac waveform to many devices. it is clean power, it is the same type of wave form that comes from you standard ups power supply. in fact that is what a ups power supply is that powers your computer, its just a inverter running off a 12 volt battery, all the time. |

Are there some devices that would be damaged if they don't have true sine wave AC?

I can't think of anything that would be damaged under inverter power

Actually, according to this site, the XBox power consumption is 100W(2nd to last on their list...). However, I imagine you have an XBox and can check this?

I guess I could check the manual and see how much power the Xbox uses.
