5 Years at PcMech

Hi all,

5 years ago yesterday I joined the PcMech community. We were a small bunch back then, I remember it quite well. I myself was one of the first 100 members to register here. It was a handful of members and moderators some of which still frequent the boards today. I was just a 16 year old High School student back then who was keen on building his own computer. Over these past 5 years I have a learned an incredible amount from these forums and all of it is truly priceless. I realize this on a often daily basis with my workstudy at the college Helpdesk or just when helping a fellow student or friend reinstall Windows. Needless to say, I would even have one quarter of the computer knowledge I have today if it were not for pcmech and its members

Although I have disagreed at times with decisions that have been made over the years, I have come to realize that they were the right ones in the interest of the forum. I truly appreciate the job Dave, Dok and all the moderators do here to keep this place nice, clean and friendly. It is just that exactly that kept me coming back.

With that I just want to extend a huge Thank You to everyone here at PcMech. Everyone plays and important role on this forum and everyone makes this the great place it is.

College is keeping me busy and that is why you don't see me around here much anymore. I do check in upon occassion and I'm happy to see that the great tradition here on pcmech is continuing. I still appreciate being able to come here to ask a question and having a handful of people willing to help me out.

Once again, thank you and God Bless you all.

Good god...that means I've been the admin here for over 5 years.

That's half a decade...only thing that hasn't changed in my life since then.

Hey Flop, "Thanx" right back at ya. Many people have come and gone over time, some just stay long enough to fix a problem. Others hang out a little and then disappear. Guys like you that have not only gained knowledge here but stayed and shared that knowledge are the reason PC Mech continues to grow. Your thoughts and insights have benefited many of us. And you've still got the best animated avatar!!

LOL.

I don't know it all, I don't even know 20% of it. Part of the reason I come here so often is to learn. I read threads even if I don't know the answer so that I can learn. And I ask questions too.

I think I've been here the longest with the fewest posts. I'm here almost everyday, just don't post much. I have learned more then I can remember just reading posts.

Cool

A little over 4 years myself. Wish I could remember how I found this place. I just did a google search for "PC help" and this, the best of them all wasn't even on the first 3 pages.

has it been that long ? I remember following a link reboot had on another forum, to this place. Turned out to be one of the best places I've found to solve a tech problem.

Thanks again to all who keep this place running.

I googled "build computer" or something like that and it was the first on the list.

Hey Jimmie, where you finding that info? I've looked around a bit and can't find anything that tells what number member I am.

I've been here 4 and a half years.

Looks like I'm in the same boat as BigAndy, just over 9 months. Learned a tremendous amount though. I was looking on google for help in building my pc and found you guys. I have to agree this is the best place on the net for pc help, and it just keeps getting better. Hopefully in another five years we'll all be here reminiscing about this old forum.

Maybe computers will be cheaper then...if only
