How much does it cost to get PC tech to look at PC problem???
Hey all,
I'm sick of fixing other peoples PCs. I'm generally a nice guy and just can't say no to a person in need but in the last 2 weeks I have fixed PCs for 7 people and only one of them was my friend. The rest are friend of a friend of a friend. I'm thinking of starting to charge people for fixes. Not that I want to make money of fixing PCs. It just happens that last weekend I spend 16 hours helping some dude that I don't even know retrieve data off his busted hdd my wife was pissed at me and in the end I went to work dead tired on Monday. Maybe if I charge people some fee it would make me feel a little better. I don't want to charge as much as "real" PC techs do. So I was wondering how much does it cost to get PC tech to lets say 1) replace a hdd? 2) Install new OS, 3) fix network problems, 4) Clean drive of viruses (like Sasser just cleaned one up last night )?Thanks, Dead tired Faba

Same here Hal. $65/hr, and OS install is MINIMUM 1.5 hours, with drivers etc installed, usually runs closer to 6 with windowsupdates, however 4 of that is sitting watching the computer do something...like watching paint dry.
Hardware and everything else is is min 0.5hrs/$35. |
